Because of this
During the first war against Voldemort, there seemed to be no hope. Even in the resistance, a group called the Order of the Phoenix, there seemed to be desolation. But the members of the Order still found something to be happy about.
Why do we do the things we do?
How can we sing when there seems no reason to?
Especially new members James Potter and Lily Evans. The two were engaged to be married, and they loved each other very much.
How do we smile when there's not much to smile about?
When the world is down, who are we to stand and shout?
Lily and James remember the first time the desolation hit them. They had been visiting Lily's parents, who had asked, "Why do you do it? How can you still be this happy when your world is falling to pieces around you?"
Lily had said, "We do it in the hopes that one day, some one will come along to finally defeat Voldemort."
They wonder why we do the things we do.
A few months later, the couple found out Lily's parents had been murdered by Death Eaters a week before their wedding.
At the actual wedding, a bittersweet feeling settled over the partiers. As they danced, staring into each others' eyes, Lily thought, It's all because of this.
It's all because of this
It's all because of this
We've tasted love, tasted hope, tasted holiness.
Then, eleven months after their wedding, they said hello to their first born, Harry. As he gazed at his wife and son, James thought, It's all because of this.
It's all because of this
It's all because of this
We've tasted love, tasted hope, tasted holiness.
One year and two months to the day after Harry was born, Lily and James Potter said goodbye to this world. And this world said goodbye, at least for a time, to its biggest threat at the hands of little Harry Potter.
They wonder why we do the things we do.
A/N: Well, there it is. Not my first attempt at writing Harry Potter fic, but my first posted attempt. I'm not sure I like it all that much. It's wayyyy better than the original, believe me. I just don't think it conveys what I was trying to say with that song. The song is Because of This by MercyMe. Yeah, a Christian song, but it's not Godly, just implies it, and barely. The lyrics could fit to anything, so don't go bashing the song just because it's "Jesus Music".
Well, that's all. Oh, and review please. I'd really like some feedback on this.
