Footsteps-

Toph was slumped against a tree, bending her space earth, when she heard a pair of footsteps. They were coming towards her. The meteorite turned back into her bracelet, and she concentrated on the footsteps. Her tongue poked out of her mouth as she tried to match them to a name.

They weren't Aang's. She was certain of this. His footsteps were light and airy, just like him. They were smooth, connected, and they were peaceful and gentle. She knew that his footsteps were a representation of the Airbender himself. They couldn't be his.

She knew they weren't Katara's. Sugarqueen was a water bender. Her footsteps were as flowing as the motions she used to control the water. Plus, the footsteps sounded masculine. They were too heavy to be a girl- ahem, Katara would interrupt- young woman's. So they weren't hers.

Were they Zuko's? No, she decided. His footsteps were rough, angry, almost. But they had energy and experience ground into them. He usually treaded heavily, not caring where his feet were placed. These footsteps sounded more deliberate. They weren't Zuko's.

And then, Toph knew. They were Sokka's. Of course! The warrior treaded heavily, but somehow his footsteps were still deliberate. Of course, they were quiet. He needed this trait for battle. "Toph?" he called, uncertainly.

She smiled. Right as always… "Coming, Sokka!" she called, following his footsteps.
