Spence? Can you?

Hello all, this is a fluff piece. I never envisioned that a fluff piece would be my first up on this site. (G rated)

Disclaimer: I sadly don't own any of these characters and I'm not making any money off of this rather sappy fluff piece. This is a teaser chapter, if you want to know more please R&R so that I know if I should bother continuing this. I had this dream about Reid at the beach with Jack and Henry in tow building sandcastles.

Reid finally has a weekend to himself for the first time in... When did he have a weekend for downtime last? Stretching in his chair, he felt his joints creak abit. Grumbling as he put the few finishing touches on the report. He attached it to an email to Hotch for review and saved a copy to his flash drive. He was just about to pack it in for the day. The sun was out, summer was nipping warmth into the breeze coming from a nearby open window, and there were birds going nuts just outside the window. This was going to be fantastic, an entire two days of sleep and lounging. Slinging his go bag full of clothes that needed to be laundried, he sauntered over to the window and tried to pick out the species of bird that was singing the brightest. Energized by the beautiful mid-morning he spun on his heels to book it to the elevator.

As he turned to slip out before another crisis befell the team he slammed right into Hotch's shoulder, sending the papers he was holding flying. "Sorry! I uh, wasn't looking-" Hotch didn't look too tiffed, "Reid, I need to discuss something with you before you leave." Following behind, Reid pondered the possibilities, hopefully not more paper or field work, he seriously needed a day off. Closing the door behind him Hotch flashed a subtle look of guilt over his face. "I need to ask a favor of you, one that I would gladly pay for." Feeling confused and uneasy he said, "Okay, what is it that you need help with?" Settling on the corner of his desk, "It's been a couple weeks since Haley has passed and I need a break from Jack this weekend." pausing Hotch noticed the look of dismay on his face, "I would ask Jessica but she has been needing some time off and she went out of town to tend to her parents with a health issue."

Reid felt his weekend disappear with soft sigh of exhaustion. He couldn't turn Hotch down because he knew that regardless of how tired he felt he knew Hotch was even more worn out. And Jack has taken a shine to him so it really wasn't that much trouble. "Okay, I don't mind hanging out and taking care of him for this weekend." Looking relieved Hotch patted him on the shoulder, "Thanks, I appreciate it." Gathering his stuff he got up to leave when JJ knocked and entered, "Oh good, Spence, Can you...?" Reid felt it coming before she said it cutting her, "Yes, I can take Henry too." JJ looked puzzled briefly, "My folks have a beach house not too far away. It's always stocked and ready for company. I haven't seen William in ages without the baby in tow. I think that both Henry and Jack are old enough to piddle around for a couple days." Trying hard not to feel sorry for his predicament he smiled wearily at both of them, "When would you like me to pick them up?" Hotch looked at his watch, "I'll be heading out in a half hour, you can pick Jack up at 1 or 1:30." Fidgeting with his bags he waited while JJ finishes a call to William, "You can pick Henry up at 3, I still have a lot of paperwork to complete. Thanks, Spence. Sorry I have to go." She dashes out and closes the door behind her.

He felt his body call out for a long hot bath. So much for the weekend...
