I do not own InuYasha or any of the characters created by Rumiko Takahashi

In the Dark

He didn't know where he was, but he was running. His heart pounded in his chest and he could feel the bitter taste of his panic. Everything was dark. He had to find her, but the darkness was deep, too deep. He could feel himself swimming in it, gasping for breath as he searched for something, anything that would show him the way out.

Suddenly, the cloud lifted as a cool hand brushed across his forehead, smoothed his cheek, and the dream shattered as he opened his eyes. It was still dark, but it was only the darkness of night, and soft moonlight spread across the room.

"InuYasha are you all right?" His wife's soft voice sounded concerned. "You called out my name."

He rolled over to face her, to let her sweet smell and warm touch drive the nightmare away. "Bad dream," he muttered, running the knuckles of one hand softly against her cheek. Leaning forward, InuYasha let his lips brush gently against hers, and as Kagome responded, drank in her taste, let his tongue dance with hers with a surprising intensity that made her melt under his assault.

"Are you sure you're all right?" she asked, as the kiss ended.

He ran his hands through her hair. "In my dream, I was alone, lost in the darkness. But it's better now. I found you again."

She gave him a small, wry smile. "I was never gone, you know. I was right here all the time."

"Tell that to my nightmare," he said. And then he kissed her again.
