She stepped up onto the platform and deposited her tokens in the machine. She tuned out the noise of the arcade as she flipped through the various song choices. Finally making her selection, she took a deep breath and bounced a bit in time with the rhythm flashing in the step zone. The music started and the rest of the world faded away. She was in the zone.
She threw her slender body wholly into the dance, stepping with precise accuracy, making it look more like a dance than a game.

She bent backwards and hit the down arrow with her hand, coming up quickly to hit the up arrow with her knee. In her mind, she was the best. The electronic crowd cheered her on and she imagined them to be awed by her moves.

The neon lights flashed, and she kept perfect rhythm with the beat of the music. Nothing existed beyond her and the machine. Nothing mattered outside of that realm. Her long red hair flew about her head as she spun around the platform, executing each step the machine threw at her. This was her world.
The song ended and she looked up at the screen to see her final score: an AA! She'd received a perfect combo score. Her breathing was a bit labored, but she smiled broadly and looked around. Nobody had paid much attention to the girl on the dance machine. But as she made her next selection, she realized she didn't care.
She could feel the flow.
