Her heart was pounding; damn pounding wasn't even the word. Her heart was beating at a million miles an hour. She logically knew it was impossible for the human heart to beat that fast but that's what she felt. Sweat was trickling down her forehead like tiny little beads glistening in the light shining through the tiny cracks that promised freedom and safety. Her pulse starting quickening, hands slowly becoming clammy as she gripped the wooden plank like she was holding on for dear life. Thoughts started racing through her mind and even though it was completely natural in a situation like this for one to start reassessing everything, at this moment it was a distraction. She stopped in her tracks, stood still, closed her eyes and took a final deep breath as she saw the door at the end of the path. Temperence Brennan was a very calm and strong willed, independent woman and she prided herself with those personality traits but as she was creeping closer to the door, she could only think of one person and mentally kick herself for not listening to his wise words. Yes, she's stubborn but dammit Brennan he knows what he is talking about. For the first time in their 4-year partnership, Dr Temperence Brennan decided to go against Agent Seely Booth's orders and from replaying the conversation in her head, it seemed more like a desperate plea. But Brennan had, had it and after figuring out where their latest sadistic killer was keeping his victim, Brennan couldn't wait any longer...
