In life, we all have things that we hold dear to us, whether it be a loved one or a valuable possession. The Golem, a giant by any standard set by man, has been deemed as a monster, but just the same, he didn't start as a monster. He was a man like any other, only, he was unfortunate enough to not stay human. These beasts, large and overall very intimidating, may still have a shred of humanity yet to be discovered.
These Golems of metal, built to withstand the pressure that is the ocean, built not as a weapon, but as a shield. These giants tower above all else, with no eyes to speak of. Instead, what can be said of its "face", a large metallic helmet, and portholes giving off an eerie glow in the dark. The word, "beast" or "monster" is used to describe said Golems for no man, no human, can withstand such pressure, such weight. These Golems, built as tanks, are not human anymore. No, he is much less, but even the faintest star can still shine in the night sky. The being known as Golems serves a purpose that no mere human can, and for that reason, they are not human.
In life, we all have things that we hold dear to us, and to the Golem, that thing is a child. The child, dirty and delusional, dressed in a disgustingly torn dress, covered in blood and filth. Their skin, a sickly pale, and their eyes, burning a bright chemical yellow. In the eyes of a sensible human, she is disgusting. No child should look the way she is, but sadly, the very humans that looked for perfection in society made her the way that she is now. The gatherer and the protector are their given names. Gatherer and Protector, such names are inhuman, further driving the notion that they are just monsters. In a way, that is true. The Golem, a beast of metal and flesh, able to survive when all others would have died. The Gatherer, a child, delusional and wronged by the world, searching for the fallen angels, searching for Rapture, but, Rapture is nothing more than a lie.
Still, in this chaotic, twisted world unlike any other, the two have each other. The Protector, The Golem, the "Big Daddy", a shield bound to this child, The Gatherer. He protects her with his might, with his life, and although it may just be a delusion, the child loves their protector. In their eyes, they do not see a monster, a monstrosity being made to hold the weight of the ocean, the burden of protecting the child. No. In their eyes, they see their father, a knight donning golden armor, there to protect the children. In this chaotic world, this, disgusting world that forever changed the lives of these two humans, turning them into golems, mindless creations built for a certain task, made inhuman, and forced to carry the burden, the weight that is the image of a "monster", they have each other. A beast and his princess, walking hand in hand, happy. Even if it is just a delusion, they are happy. They have found their Rapture.
