Ikebukuro, Japan. There was nothing special about this city. It was your average urban city in Japan; bustling with people on the streets, tall buildings, taxis and more. Like most other cities, it also had underground railroad stations, which was where our small story takes place.
A woman, Kanra, no last name needed, sat on a bench, looking to be in her early twenties. She was alone on the bench, despite the fact that she was surrounded by at least a hundred people. She seemed to be keeping to herself, not caring for the world around her as she avoided talking to anyone.
This, however, was not true. It was quite the opposite actually. It wasn't that she was antisocial, shy, or scared. She just liked to keep a watchful eye on things. She wasn't worried for others, oh no, it was a bit different from that.
To her, life was like a game of strategy, and every single human on Earth was like a chess piece. With the exception of herself, of course. She would play around, making moves to see reactions, and it took a great amount of thinking. Kanra liked to think of herself in a higher sense. Like a god, of sorts. She would stay in the shadows, watching all problems a human would face with amusement. She never bothered to help, for that would take away the fun.
Call her sick, twisted, or even sadistic if you will, but she loved the rushed feeling she got in her stomach when looking at tortured expressions or teary faces. To know that a human's emotions were so fragile, no matter how tough they tried to act, it made her feel proud of herself for being able to accomplish such a thing.
Even now, as she watched a nearby couple fight, she felt no guilt or remorse in the slightest for enjoying it.
The female's face was flushed from screaming in anger, and Kanra had to hold in a giggle as she spotted the agitated look on the male's face. When the fight reached its breaking point, the female stormed away, many bystanders parting to let her through with the male quickly following.
Kanra's gaze trailed after them; she was tempted to get up and follow the two, but even she knew when she's crossed the line. The origin of the fight probably wasn't all that interesting to begin with. There would have been no point, and the fun would have evaporated immediately. Then there would have to be the whole scene where she has to explain herself if she were to be caught, which most likely wouldn't happen. Still, it would be troublesome.
Besides, her train had already arrived, pulling up with a loud screech that alerted others with its presence. As she stood up and dusted off her skirt, Kanra made her way to the doors, smirking to herself.
Humans were so entertaining.
