I'm lost. I am totally lost.

I have no idea where I am or how I ended up here so maybe I should stop wondering around in a circle? Maybe it would be smart of me to look around? That could be a clue as to where I am. So, yeah, I'll do that. And I'm in. . . a forest.

Alright. Maybe that didn't help as much as I thought it would.

Trees. That's all I see. Nothing but tall, leafy trees. I strained my neck up, trying to see if there was even an end to the trees but I soon gave up. It was getting too dark for me to see. I sighed and took another step forward, my foot landing on something thick but soft. I was afraid I stepped on something that could potentially bite me, so I jumped back.

After staring at the ground in search for whatever I stepped on, all I could see was the outline of a leaf. But I could have sworn that I stepped on something bigger, something thicker? I bent down and picked up the leaf, chuckling to myself. A leaf. A leaf couldn't bite me. Pft.

Before I tossed it back down, I spun it around in my hands, feeling the softness of it. The leaf wasn't big, about the size of my palm, but it was thick and I couldn't get over that. Leaves weren't thick, right? No, they weren't. So why was this one?

Snap.

I whipped my body around in the direction that the noise came from, questioning what I would even do if I encountered anything that could be a threat. Could I run? No. I didn't think I was a coward. Maybe fight? But what if the attacker was bigger than me? I didn't have anything to defend myself with, just my fists. I mean, I could punch and kick, right? Even then, that didn't seem all that promising. I didn't feel strong, like I couldn't take on anything bigger than myself. Thinking about it, I actually felt pretty weak, like I didn't have a lot of energy. Maybe I could just throw this leaf at the attacker, use that as a weapon.

I nervously laughed to myself, I looked back down at my hand that held the leaf. My eyes widened once I realized that there was no longer a leaf in my hand, but rather a dagger. Automatically, my hand opened and reflexively attempted to drop the dagger, but the handle was wrapped around my palm to ensure that it would not fall. I stared at the dagger a little longer before something in my head clicked.

Wait.

I had been thinking of how I was going to defend myself if something happened to attack me and the leaf transformed into a form of weapon. Maybe that meant that the leaf was meant for me? Or was I jumping to conclusions?

I shrugged and decided to try it out again; maybe all the leaf could turn into was a dagger? If that was the case, then it'd be almost useless, I think.

I examined the dagger a little longer, wondering if it was even sharp. Feeling the edges, they were soft to me and – wait, could this even cut anything?

After a few minutes, I stumbled upon a fallen branch, it looked sturdy and a little worn but it would have to do. I leaned down and lightly cut across the branch, not expecting to leave a single scratch. What really happened was almost amazing. After my swift blow to the branch, I could see a large cut, as if I had brought the dagger down hard and chopped. It was reliving to know that I had a strong weapon to defend myself, but odd that such a little, effortless cut caused such an impact.

I looked at the dagger and imagined it being a bow and arrow instead.

For some reason, when I imagined the transformation, I thought it would just be quick and kind of like magic. Like it would sort of just . . . pop into whatever I would think about. It didn't happen that way though. It was slow and almost mesmerizing. The extended dagger handle retracted from around my palm and grew into a large, curved bow. The arrow grew from 'string' and sat there until I grabbed and detached it from the bow. There I held two separate parts of the same object in my hands. It was amazing and I was eager to test it on the stump but I stopped for a moment.

Could I even shoot an arrow properly?

I'll find out.

I stepped back from the fallen branch and kept going until I was a good distance away. Gracefully, I brought the arrow back while pulling the string with it and lined up my shot. My hands didn't wobble as much as I thought they would; maybe I have better hand-eye-coordination than I originally thought. I let go of both the arrow and string, watching as my arrow pierced the log all the way through.

I smiled to myself.

I can be dangerous.

I shook my head and laughed. Now it's time to see what else this thing could do.

I imagined for the leaf to turn into something for me to sit on, to give my feet a rest. And the leaf did just that. It grew into a standard sitting chair, but it was so comfortable. I brought my feet up and sat cross-legged, but as I did, I watched something grow from the ground.

A flower?

No.

Two flowers.

Right where my feet had been.

I shook my head, murmuring to myself that it had to be a coincidence. Then again, I am stranded in a forest, by myself, with a leaf that just cut through a branch. It couldn't hurt to see if I was the source of the flowers sprouting, right? I sighed, standing up and walking around the still-shaped chair.

After making a small circle, I sat back down and watched as the flowers blossom from the ground. I shook my head and laughed as if I couldn't believe what was happening. How in the world could I make flowers sprout from just standing in one spot? It . . . it's impossible!

And yet, I just witnessed it happen. With my very own eyes.

I actually got a little excited. Does this mean I have powers? What kind of powers? Maybe laser eyes or something.

I concentrated on a tree and squinted.

Nope, okay, next.

Oh, maybe I could punch really hard. Like super strength; that's what it's called, right?

I targeted a tree and swung at full force with my fist. Once my fist connected with the trunk, I instantly regretted it. Pain surged through my right arm, but that wasn't all. My breath was knocked out of me. Did something hit me in the stomach? I bent over, staring at my feet, and tried to catch my breath.

That's when I noticed something else.

I had a ring around my toe. A toe ring. Or something like that.

It looked like three separate, thin rings melted together and at one point held a design in the middle. The design must've chipped off at one point.

Wait.

Did I have clothes on?

I looked down.

Yes.

Wait, no.

Well, kind of. It was more like a bunch of leaves that just covered the important parts. A few leaves covered my bottom and front, taking form of some very short shorts. And a few leaves covered my breasts, making it look like a very small tube top.

What's with the leaves today?

I looked at my legs and arms, nothing. Except the small vines that wrapped along my left bicep and right thigh. My whole 'outfit' was a mixture of bright and dark leafy greens and stood out more against my sun-kissed skin, at least I think it's kind of tan? It is dark time. I admit I was a little uncomfortable with the amount of skin that was being shown but from what I could tell my physical appearance was pretty nice. The bending over made my hair fall in front of my face though. I examined part of it, noticing that it was different shades of light brown to dark brown, and also felt the tickling sensations of the end of my hairs reaching my bottom. Pushing it back, my hand glided against my arms and across my smooth skin. I was muscular, I think, but not so much that it stood out. Everything was just right.

Okay, so maybe I was linked to nature since I was dressed in leaves, I acquired a magical leaf-thing that could transform into a chair, and flowers seemed to sprout wherever I stand. Seems logical.

No. No it doesn't. None of this seems logical. But I couldn't really argue with it since it's happening. Right now. To me.

Maybe I could talk to plants and stuff? And animals too? Maybe.

I walked up to the nearest tree before letting out a small "Hello?"

Pause.

"How are you?"

Silence.

What had I expected? For the tree to suddenly spring to life, shake my hand and announce 'Hey, my name's Kevin. I'm great, thanks for asking. A little stiff, but you know.'

I sighed and rested against the trunk. Within seconds, the tree started to glow and become, well, brighter. The bark shifted underneath me and felt stronger, the branches seemed to reach higher, and the leaves became bigger and greener. I smirked.

Alright, now we're talkin'.

Finally I found what I could do. But wait, did I hear giggling? It sounded like it was coming from the tree?

"I thought you couldn't talk." I stared at the tree, lifting my palm from it.

Silence.

Then another giggle.

"So you can talk." I listened for any more noise. Words. Something.

Then I heard it.

Whispers.

I couldn't tell exactly what was being said, but it sounded happy.

"Maybe speak a little louder?" I suggested. After a bit of silence and hearing only giggles, I continued to speak. "Or not. Look, I'm kind of lost and I don't know where I am. I don't even know who I am and truth be told, I'm a little scared. I don't know what to do or where to go so . . . do you mind helping me out?"

The giggling stopped but a louder whisper was heard.

"Mother Nature."

Do what?

"What's a Mother Nature?"

I waited for another answer, a hint, but after a while of getting no response, I decided to move on. I collected my transforming leaf and decided to walk, maybe find an end to this forest.

xXxXx

You.
You is a Mother Nature.

I told you guys I'd do it!
I honestly feel that this is better. I'm actually quite satisfied.
I feel like I was able to more subtly put things in there, all though a lot happened in this chapter. Also some prissy reader had a problem with me writing a 'you' based story (as if it hasn't been done before, right?) so I had to go back and change everything to 'I' so yay.

For those of you who just tuned in: I had written about 19 chapters of Frost on the Leaves but was quite unsatisfied with what I had written. While I had gotten many positive reviews and tons o' love from everyone, I didn't like the way I wrote it. I felt like I rushed it. So I am re-writing the whole thing.

Also it's longer. And you meet him soon.

Until next chapter~
