The Yearly 365 Challenge

Prompt #19 (Location) Town Hall

Chic walked over to where Tom Keller was setting up folding chairs. "Sir I was told that you would be here." He placed his hands in his jacket pockets.

Tom looked up. "I don't want you dating my son." He went back to unfolding the chairs.

Chic sighed deeply. "I understand sir. But I care about Kevin very much. I want to be with him. He wants to be with me."

Tom glared up into the young man's eyes. "Kevin is seventeen years old. He is still a minor. You are twenty. You are too old for him." He firmly folded his arms across his chest.

"My age isn't the issue here sir." Chic calmly spoke. "Nor my own personal past. The issue is whom my mother is."

Tom stiffen. "It's not your fault whom you are born too. I know that. I feel for you and your sisters. I feel for your father. But to have Alice Smith Cooper that close to my son …."

"I would never allow my mother to hurt Kevin." Chic firmly replied.

"He's all I have left." Tom swallowed. "Even with Alice … you are a much safer choice for Kevin then Joaquin ever was."

Hope filled Chic's eyes.

Sighing deeply. "If I can be behind Kevin's close friendship with Betty …. then I would be a total hypocrite if I would deny my son dating rights to you." Tom nodded. "You have my permission to date my son."

Chic softly smiled. "Thank you Sir. I promise that you won't regret this." He pulled his hands out of his pockets. His right hand reached out.

Tom took the hand in his and firmly shook it. He placed his left hand on the young man's shoulder. "I know that I won't son." He smiled softly.
