Roxas stared at Axel as he sat on the edge of the clock tower.

It wasn't fair but there wasn't anything he could do.

He was melting back into Sora and nothing could stop that. Axel looked so forlorn though that Roxas couldn't help but want to comfort his friend. But they didn't have hearts, right? Maybe he should have given into Axel those few times he had wanted sex to get through the day but Roxas had always insisted they were only friends.

Funny, they would both melt into nothingness virgins.

Instead of laughing like he wanted to, Roxas could only stare at the man who had wanted to have sexual relations with him several times, and think about all the times he had shot the guy down.

Axel had been his friend for practically the whole time he had been at the Organization and had been his anchor. He had left him without a thought, subconsciously figuring that since they didn't have hearts neither of them could miss each other.

Axel had been the one who had missed him and come after him, even if half of it had been orders. He had been persistent near the point of annoyance yet he had still followed orders to defeat him. Axel had lost nonetheless and Roxas had been the one to do it.

He startled when Axel held out a Sea Salt ice cream bar but had taken it from him.

He felt melancholy, sitting on the tower once again, staring out upon the town that he had thought he had grown up in, with people that had replaced Axel. Friends that had never wanted a sexual relation with him, friends that had often times been hotheaded but loyal.

Kind of like Axel now that he thought about it.

He was starting to wonder if he regretted not taking Axel up on his offer but than he looked over at the gangly Organization XIII member and decided quite suddenly that, no, he didn't regret it.

They were better off that they had never had sexual relations 'cause this wouldn't hurt as much but they didn't have hearts so maybe it wouldn't hurt either way. They'd melt and they'd be okay after this because this was goodbye and than it would be over. They'd fade and any pseudo feelings that existed between them would be non-existent.

For some reason that left him feeling . . . it was indescribable really. It was something that just was. It existed between them like a festering wound that wouldn't go away no matter what one did but . . . it was okay like that somehow. It was alright to exist like that as it just was. It wasn't something that needed explaining, not that they could explain it at any rate.

It was what made Roxas hate Axel at the same time that Axel was his best friend. It was what made Axel want him in more than a platonic way. It was what made them crave each other. It was what made Axel go after Roxas and it was what made Roxas push him away.

It just was, and as they faded, that festering wound let a single tear drop be their only impression on a reality that never was to begin with.
