The Yearly 365 Challenge
Prompt #8 (Location) Carson College
Hal frowned as he leaned against his son's doorway. "Chic you need to go to college."
Chic sighed. "I know that dad. But I'm not going to Carson."
"Why not. I went there. I always pictured you going there." Hal chest puffed out.
"Not happening dad." Chic sighed as he shook his head. "Don't expect Polly or Betty wanting to go either."
"Carson isn't that bad of a school son." Hal stepped into the room and closed the door. "Just consider it please."
"I'm sorry dad." Chic looked up into his father's still hopeful eyes. "It is nothing against you. But mom went there. None of us can bear the thought of going to the same school as her." He breathed in deeply. "It's bad enough that we have to live in the same house as she. But to finally escape and go to the same college that she did."
Hal's chest tightened at his son's words. "Alice wasn't always likes this son. When we were in college she was much softer."
Chic stood to his feet and walked to his closet. "No dad. No matter how much you try to tell us that mom was honesty relaxed when she was younger … still won't make us want to be in the same college that she attended." He opened his closet door and grabbed his jacket. "I need to get to work." He turned to face his father. His eyes soften. "I'm sorry dad."
Hal sighed as he fought tears. "I understand Chic. I understand." He breathed. "As long as you do go to college then I'm fine with the school you chose."
"Thanks dad." Chic softly said as he slipped his jacket on. "I'll do my best not to pick one that is too far away from home." A half smile. "But I do want to explore the world." He walked to his father and put a hand on his father's solid shoulder, "but I'll always be near enough for you and my sisters. No matter what."
Hal lifted his hand to cover his sixteen year old son's. "Thanks son."
Chic nodded and passed his father towards his closed door. He opened it and left.
