Disclaimer: I don't own the song "Stand Still" by Phil Vassar. It's from Phil's CD "American Child". I don't own House or Cuddy, they belong to David Shore.

Rated: K. This is unbeta'd. My apologies if House or Cuddy seem OOC.

House was smiling, and he had the biggest smile on his face. The reason was that his best friend and lover, Cuddy had just given birth to their baby girl. House looked down at his daughter, whose name was Aubrey. House was totally smitten by his little girl.

House and Cuddy had been together for three years. They had started off as friends and over time their friendship turned into love. The love that they shared was stronger than what either of them had ever known. Both Cuddy and House knew that they would love their daughter with everything in their heart and soul.

House who was previously dressed in jeans, Nike Shox, a button down dress shirt, and t-shirt had now shed his button down dress shirt and had on jeans, Nike Shox, and t-shirt. He was tired, but very happy. In fact he was happier than he had ever been. Holding his daughter was one of the happiest moments of his life, aside from having Cuddy come into his life.

Aubrey who had now quieted down and slept gave House time to think and reflect upon his life. He looked over at Cuddy as he smiled. He then looked down at his sleeping daughter. He may have looked very tired on the outside, but on the inside he was beaming at his brand new baby girl that he held in his arms. House thought of the perfect song by country artist Phil Vassar that forever captured this perfect moment in his life. House let himself smile for the first time in years as he thought of the lyrics.

In the spring I dreamed of summer

To feel the sunlight on my skin

But in the heat I'd start to hunger

For that autumn chill again

I always spent my time anticipating

things to come

But now I wish that I could slow the

world down just thus once and

Chorus

Stand still

I'm right where I wanna be

Holding you in the middle of the moment

of my life

The way I feel

I don't care what's in front of me

Or what's behind me I just wanna

stop the wheel

And stand still

I have driven by a sunset

Let it pass without a glance

I took so many things for granted

Counting on a second chance

But touching you right now is something

I don't wanna miss

I know my finest hour is the one

I'm living in

Repeat Chorus

House smiled at this song and then he looked down at his daughter. The last line in the second verse really resonated with him. I know my finest hour is the one, I'm living in. This truly was the finest hour that he was standing still and living in the finest moment of his life as he held his daughter in his arms.
