Old Man Duncan
He was once a man among boys, entrusted and expected to train them for all manner of warfare. To instill in them a desire to achieve that would forever safeguard them against the fear of failure. In his care, those that learned from him not only became great warriors, but esteemed scientists and more complete as a person.
He was a man who had been chosen to raise a child as if it were his own. A daughter that would grow into a beautiful woman and a mighty soldier. She would be respected by all who knew her, and it warmed his heart on cold, dark nights to look back on those distant days.
He, at one time, had access to all of Eternia's wonder. By his hands countless devices and machines were created and the quality of life for all of Eternia's peaceful populace thrived by his good deeds. The king himself considered him a close friend and an irreplaceable asset, high praise indeed. It was he whom the king trusted above all others when it came to keeping Eternia and their kingdom safe from all walks of evil.
He was also a man with a secret. A secret shared by only a few others. Young Prince Adam, outwardly clumsy and ill-prepared, looked to him for guidance, while the most powerful man in the universe counted on his strength and experience to win favor in battle. His was truly a blessed life, rich with rewards beyond measure such as trust, friendship, and love.
He was once Man-at-Arms, but the combined forces of Skeletor and The Horde destroyed his world. Now, old and gray, far removed from any kingdom and all forms of companionship, he waits for whatever is to come next. Be it another day or be it death, he is ready. Content to live out his days in a far corner of a shadowed ledge with no clear view of the skies. A forgotten hole in the landscape of Eternia, where even the ghosts of his past fear to tread.
Sometimes he wonders if he should seek out others from the Old Guard. Perhaps try to reclaim the kingdom, or even some stretch of dry land that can feel the sun. But unlike his memories, strong and clear, his drive to stand and fight once more quickly fades away into nothing.
Who he once was died the day Grayskull fell.
Now he was simply Duncan, a man alone.
