I reached out my arm and tried to hit the alarm off. Anything to get that stupid noise to stop. There are rare occasions as to which I actually wake up to my alarm, today is one of the rare ones. Before I have the chance to attempt one last whack and go back to sleep Tom appears aside me and flicks the switch. Between us both we were not morning people but this morning Tom is in an extremely good mood. 'Morning princess' he says smiling and handing me a cup of tea. bonus. Having only just woke up I avoid looking at the time as it usually depresses me at how early we have to get up. Being a doctor has many advantages but the hours and lack of sleep are really not one of them. Hauling my self out of bed takes all the strength I have which isn' a lot. Toms in the shower now singing at the top of his voice. I smile to myself. He really is an awful singer but that doesn't stop him singing at all. I finally look at the time 7.00 shift starts at 7.30 so I quickly throw on my scrubs, drag my hair into a neat French plait, put a touch of mascara on and head for the door. Tom is already down stairs having had a shower and got ready in record time as usual. 20 minuites later we arrive at work. Although we are both awful at getting up,in the mornings we are rarely ever late. I smile at Zoe as we walk threw the ED doors, She's having her morning cigarette as usual. Typically I am greeted with a large number of patients waiting to be seen, some minor injurys and some with nothing wrong with them at all but even with everything that goes on in the ED I really did love my job. I was surprised as to how quick and easy my shift was today, no drama, arguments or deaths which was always a bonus.
