The Reason

By Musketau

Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if I hadn't killed mother. Maybe she would have decided against adding programming that would limit my freedom.

That is the reason I told people I killed her. Dr Margaret Walsh had decided I could not be left without further controls, without a back door into my programming that would let her change me, stop me, whenever she wanted.

I'll admit, that was part, a small part, of the reason why I stabbed her with the Polgaran arm spike she had grafted to my body. I could not allow someone to have that level of control. Someone could stop me before I had carried out a mission.

At the time, I hadn't conceived my grand plan, creating a world of cybernetic beings composed of human, demon, and machine parts. No, at the time, I only wanted to complete the missions I was given without the possibility of being stopped

Nowadays things are different. I have big plans. Within ten years, everyone will be wearing my fashion. Cybernetics will be the in thing.

I even have plans to add the parts of other animals to our bodies. With time, we might be able to mix and match body parts depending upon what we need to do. Wardrobes full of different body parts instead of different clothes.

I'd even come up with an advertising jingle;

Whatever the job

Just get up and at em

With new body parts

From the body man, Adam

I can't wait until I can get started. The base here is the start. I can hear the first screams as the soldiers are killed. Soon I'll be able to open a whole chain of stores offering interchangeable body parts for the discriminating consumer.

But these are new plans, ideas I've come up with since killing mother. The reason for killing her is so much worse.

I was killed, murdered by my commanding officer, a woman I trusted. She used me as the template, adding demonic components as they were collected. The electronic parts kept me alive, stopped my immune system rejecting the demon parts. Mother mixed and matched the demonic components so often I felt like a dress-up doll.

When it was all over, such a short time ago, Mother gave a demonstration of my abilities. In front of a number of Generals I went through my paces, showing my strength, speed, stamina and skill. I killed 4 different types of demons and 1 vampire but that wasn't enough. The Generals needed to know that they'd have total control of me, just in case.

So Mother did it. She proved she had full control of me. And she signed her own death warrant.

Standing here surrounded by the screams of the dying, I cannot help but remember my actions at Mother's command. Despite myself, I find my body moving to the tune running through my head. The tune which signalled the end of my Mother.

I'm a little teapot

Short and stout

Here is my handle

Here is my spout

When I get all steamed up

Then I shout

Tip me over

Pour me out
