Iruka looked up from his board. He made sure the class was dutifully taking notes.
His eyes landed on two particular students.
'Naruto and Shikamaru...' He thought.
They were both fast asleep. Shikamaru used his hand as a pillow, while Naruto simply slept on the table, drool seeping onto the desk and paper. What little marks had been made were now smudged by the liquid.
Iruka sighed.
"Alright class, that's all for today. Don't forget, we have a quiz tomorrow, so don't forget to study." He told them, the shuffling of papers signaling their leave. The class shoved books and paper in their packs, the noise waking the two sleeping ninjas in training.
"Huh? Is class over already?" Naruto drawled half asleep, while wiping the drool from his mouth.
"Yes, Naruto, Shikamaru. I expect you to make good grades on the test we will have tomorrow over what we learned today." He said.
Naruto twitched while Shikamaru blinked lazily.
"B-but Sensei, I didn't catch the whole lesson!" Naruto yelled.
Iruka sighed.
"Of course you didn't, it's because you were asleep the whole time!" He stated sternly, rubbing his forehead in irritation.
"Yes, bu-" At that moment, several students walked into the doorway.
"Naruto, I've got a new class. Go on to your next one." Iruka said, ignoring Naruto's puppy face.
Shikamaru had already left, so when Naruto stomped despondently out the door, he shoved his hands in his pockets.
His eyes widened as he felt a piece of paper in his hands.
He pulled it out, opening the folded parchment.
He saw it was a study sheet of the class.
Naruto turned around, for a look a Iruka, only to see him teaching the new class already.
Naruto smiled.
'Thank you, Iruka Sensei.'
