Achievement- The death of endeavor and the birth of disgust
After many years of chasing, plotting and scheming, this did not seem to be the achievement that Zuko had thought it would be.
He had always imagined that he and uncle would dock into the harbor of the capital and receive a hero's welcome. That citizens would line the streets leading to the palace, that'd be cheering him on. There would be cries of how much they had missed him. And when he came to the palace his father would be proud of him for filling his duty, that he'd finally love him for just being him.
But none of that happened.
When they came into the port, there was no welcoming committee, no parade, no screaming girls (Okay so he was really hoping for that part but he's a growing boy mind you!), no nothing. It was just him, Azula, and the 5 soldiers that carried the Avatar and his companions.
If anything the people that did looked on where either afraid of the prince or, to Zuko's discouragement, looked on at the Avatar with regret and sadness. No! They weren't supposed to pity the Avatar they were supposed to cheer for him! why was this all going wrong?
As they matched toward the palace pavilion, He could not shake the feeling of blue eyes staring at him harshly. Zuko halted the mini 'caravan' and found the source of his uneasiness. The waterbending girl.
"Doesn't feel quite right does it?" she inquired without looking at him. He scowled obliviously not knowing what she was talking about. "Coming home. This isn't what you expected, especially after all that you went through."
She turned to face him. Her face a mixture a of pity and 'I-told you-so'. "What do you know of it peasant?!" He hissed not to upset the rest of the caravan."
"Achievement, Zuko." Katara looked away from him and held her head up to show her courage. "-Is never what you imagined it to be when trying to obtain it."
The Fire nation prince glared daggers at the girl before stomping away to lead the group into the palace.
'What does she know? Stupid wench.' He looked up at the twilit sky 'They why do I feel disgusted with myself more then anything?'
