A Father's Love

Disclaimer: Me not own Naruto… Simple enough?

He was on the battle field, his enemy far more taller then he was, but he was no fool, the beast raging before him could be tamed, but he needed something else, something he knew would be the first and last time he would see. His blond hair out of his line of sight for a moment, he could finally see, observe, calculate his fiend's next move, and he was finally glad that his teacher was Jiraiya. His plan already made in his mind, he called one of his most powerful allies, one whom he didn't see since he became Hokage, by biting his thumb and writing some sign for his Summoning Technique. It didn't take too long before the giant brown toad made it's presence known, with it (well, more like his) sword strapped on its back and its tongue coming out of its mouth.

"You're fighting the Kyuubi this time?" The toad asked, eyeing the figure standing on his head, but it only received silence, something it knew meant approval. There was nothing else to say, and thus, silence filled the night even if Konoha ninjas screamed, hurt or going against an indestructible enemy, even if the said Kyuubi growled (or was it laughing?) as it saw the shinobi's determined stare, something it probably did not see in quite a while.

Because, before death, there is silence…

"Yondaime-sama!" a voice spoke behind them, another ninja, carrying a small bundle of cloth. "Here's your child, just born a few minutes ago… Wh-…" "You may go now. Join those who fight." He interrupted the shinobi, taking the bundle of cloth in his own arms, making sure not to wake the infant who slept peacefully. Looking at the child, who already had the same hair as his father (color and style) for the first and last time, the

Yondaime felt a sudden urge to just go away and have a normal, peaceful life with his son and wife, yet he wouldn't, couldn't leave all the ninjas around him for his own, selfish desires. And so, he kissed the infant's forehead before whispering something in the baby's ear and turning to face once more the battle ground.

Years later, the young boy would think, whenever he ate ramen, trained, washed (not so often) his apartment, talked to his friends or anything else whose voice it was… the one that said three small words but stayed in his mind as if it was written with ink in it. The words that pushed him beyond his limits and over his fears, while still keeping the gentleness and comfort only one kind of person could give you. He had asked, of course, anyone who could know who it was, from the small hint he kept in his memory, and the only answer he came up with, was that his few-minutes-old hand held his father's finger as he died. Never a name was mentioned, but in the end, Naruto decided whoever that person was, he knew him from the three small words he remembered.

Daddy loves you…

After all, it was his father…

There, finished! It took me about an hour but I think it was worth it… I was inspired from the lullaby in "Pan's labyrinth", a movie I did not see, but I heard the music with my mom. By the way... I know very little about the Yondaime, so if there is a part in the anime about that night, I didn't see it!!! (Except the first episode...)
