Chapter 1 – A New Ally, A New Emotion

Legolas was supposed to be keeping an eye out for orcs, but all he could keep an eye on was Master Chief's bulging muscles. The Chief was polishing his weapon, a so-called "gun," and Legolas found himself fantasising about the Chief polishing something else.

Ever since Master Chief had crash-landed on Middle Earth, Legolas had been unable to stop thinking about the stranger. He was very mysterious, all Legolas knew about him was that he was tall, handsome and capable of killing dozens of goblins in a fight. For Legolas, that was enough.

Ever since Master Chief had arrived, their mission to destroy the one ring had become much easier. That had left Legolas with plenty of time to grapple with his new feelings. He had never felt this way about a man before. What made the man from space different?

Legolas didn't know, but with the rest of the fellowship asleep now was the perfect time to find out. He left his post, walked up to Master Chief and said, "Good evening, Master Chief. I've noticed that weapon of yours is very powerful. Is controlling it difficult?" His voice cracked and quivered with subconscious desire.

"It's easy," grunted the Master Chief. He put his gun on the ground and stared at Legolas. "You just have to have the right stance."

Legolas picked up the gun. It was heavier than he expected. The Chief made wielding it look easy, and that just made Legolas admire him more. He tried to mimic the stance he had seen Master Chief take, the one that made him feel strange stirrings. "Like this?"

"No, you need to keep your elbows up."

Legolas adjusted his stance. "Is this better?"

"Not really. Here, let me show you." Master Chief stood up, and Legolas suddenly found himself wrapped in the man's strong arms. He was giving Legolas more instructions, but his words were just a faint buzz in his ear. Legolas felt the Chief's hard body against his and sighed in content.

All of a sudden arrows began to zoom through the air. They were under attack! "You fool!" shouted Master Chief. "You were supposed to be looking out for orcs! Now you may have doomed us all!" The Chief ran off to fight the battle.

Legolas, on the verge of tears, followed behind him. His lapse of judgment might end up being the cause of his death… but he felt as if he would rather die than have to live with Master Chief's disapproval.
