A/N: Hi...

For readers of Stolen, I know I'm late on your minishots, but I had this written out and ready, so I thought I'd just...post it. It is for the HPFC contest "Shades & Hues". I chose the color goldenrod and got the prompt of sunflowers in return.

Please review!

Sunflowers

The sun was warm on their faces as they laid among the wildflowers. The wind blew gently as the girl spoke, her voice soft and ethereal and sweet.

"...and I imagine they would love sunflowers, don't you? Nargles, after all, enjoy seeing love."

Harry pushed himself up on his elbows." What do you mean?"
Her large blue eyes met his own unflinchingly. "They nest in mistletoe and tend to lurk around those with big hearts...like you."

His face flamed and she pulled him back down against the long grass. "It makes sense, I guess." Harry agreed, playing with the stem of a goldenrod sunflower. He held it out to the girl. 'But why sunflowers?"

The girl laughed and took the black and yellow flower from Harry. "They are always reaching for the sun, Harry. They are bright and hopeful and longing."

The girl gently stroked one petal. "And though it seems like the flower will never touch the sun, they never stop reaching. That kind of devotion needs a lot of-"

"Love." Harry said with her, his emerald eyes turning hesitantly to meet her pale blue. His hands, shaking slightly, reached out to touch the girl's straggly blonde hair.

"I think the sunflower is the most romantic," the girl continued quietly, her eyes never straying from Harry's. "because they never will give up on you."

"Yeah." Harry said breathlessly. The girl glanced down on the sunflower in her hand and gently placed it in his hair. Harry's eyes widened for an instant and a faint dusting of red colored his cheeks.

"I like you, Harry." the girl said, her lips brushing his ear. She drew back, her pale eyes alight with love.

Harry swallowed, pushing down the butterflies that swarmed in his stomach. "I- I like you too, Luna."

Luna's eyes shined as she leaned in, sunflowers framing her face. "That's good." she said, her face mere inches from Harry's.

"Let's hope the Nargles aren't watching." Harry joked quietly, his breath lightly brushing Luna's.

"It'd be okay if they were." Luna replied, closing the distance to softly kiss Harry.

Harry closed his eyes, lost in the field of sunflowers outside Hogwarts castle and an eccentric girl's lips.
