For Buttons, who requested an AkuRoku friendship fic. Sorry I couldn't fit the keywords in DX

"These moments are so precious to me. Though you may not know it, they mean everything. You make me feel as if I have a heart. Sitting here at the end of the day, I wish the moments would last forever. You changed me, for the better. You softened me, made me more...human...
My...friend....
You look to me for guidance, you ask me about everything. We have the most mundane conversations and yet I'm still interested, I still listen to every word...because it's you speaking. Because the look of gratitude in your eyes when I help you with something is so precious to me.
I watch you, silhouetted against the sunset. You are happier now, and more outgoing, I can tell, but there's still pain. You still feel lost. I don't like it. I don't want you to feel lost. I want you to feel as if you belong, because you do. You belong here, in the Organisation. You belong with us.
I sit up, and open my mouth:

'Hey Roxas'
The blonde looked at him.
'I have to agree with you on one thing. I also don't want these moments to stop. I want them to continue forever.'
The blonde didn't know how to reply to that, so he just looked back out over the town and said 'Oh...'
Silence fell again.
The black haired girl merely smiled. She didn't need to say it. They all knew. They knew that they all wanted nothing more than to keep coming up here, eating ice cream and watching the sunset. But they also all know that the end was coming. That soon something would happen that would end this all, that would break this apart and tear through the bonds of friendship that should have lasted forever.
The three of us...we belong together...but nothing...nothing lasts forever."

"It's good," said Xion, handing the paper back to Axel. "I like it. It captures the idea well, joy with sadness or something like that." She smiled. "I didn't know you had it in you to write such fluff though" she said.
Axel frowned. "Neither did I, it's not like me. I'll probably scrap it and write something better."
"Don't!" Xion said, "It's good! I think you should continue."
Just then Roxas returned to the table and buried his heads in his arms, saying defeatedly, "Ugh, stupid English essay. I have no idea what to write." He looked up dejectedly.
"Mine's nowhere near finished but you could have a look if you're really stuck" said Xion.
"Nah, s'okay. I don't wanna copy off you. Axel?"
"Pshh, mine's rubbish. I'm probably gonna rewrite it."
Xion gave him a look.
"Fine fine! Maybe I won't!"
Xion laughed and said "you better not".

---------------------------------------

It was true though, thought Axel as he stared at the ceiling of his room. He did want nothing more than to spend forever with his friends. Their entrance had changed everything for him, made him a better, nicer, more friendly person. He has withdrawn from the world but they brought him back, and he only ever felt right when he was with them. The two of them had brought back his humanity. But, no matter how much he wanted it, he couldn't be with them forever. Eventually they would part ways. Eventually they would have to leave, and face the struggles that they ran away from.
But, because it would end, there was only one thing to do. Make the best of the time they had.
