The last note still hangs in the air as the curtain falls. The applause is rising to the heavens. The cast runs out on stage and takes their bows. Soaking up the thunderous applause like a sponge. Karen makes her way out onto the stage and the crowd goes wild.
No one will notice that a chorus girl is missing. I'm just a singing head. There's nothing about me that matters and there never will be. How many times do I have to have my heart broken before I say enough is enough? I think today was the final straw, Derek choosing Karen over me is just more than I can take.
The pills are solid in her hand as she gets a bottle of water. She stares for a moment before deciding her fate. She throws the handful of pills into her mouth and swallows hard.
Just a little while longer and all the pain will be erased. She thinks to herself. The silence of the dressing room is deafening as the applause still thunders on out there. Out there where dreams come true, such a stark contrast to in here were the same dream is slowly being crushed.
A single tear rolls down her cheek as she thinks about Tom. She quickly finds a piece of paper and writes a note just for him.
Tom, my dear sweet friend,
I know you're going to blame yourself for my actions tonight, but I pray that you won't. There was nothing you could do to prevent this. You have always been my number one cheerleader and you didn't let me down. If anything, I know that I'm letting you down. I hope that you can forgive me for my actions tonight and move on with your life. Remember forever that I love you.

Her body is starting to feel heavy and she knows that the end is near. She stands to leave the dressing room, but falls down. Lying in a heap on the floor she closes her eyes and allows herself drift away. She knows that the show will go on without her. And as she lets go of this life she realizes that life will go on without her too.
