Peter POV

He's suffocating in his guilt.

The anger he has tried his best to ignore is finally at a point he can't control. Everything has lead to this moment in time, where all of his darkest fears about his father have come true.

His father, the great Walter Bishop, genius of his time may have been involved with testing Cortexifan on children.

May have used Olivia as a test subject for a drug to amplify abilities.

May have erased her memory.

May have put her in danger with his need to explore the edge of science.

Olivia, strong independent Olivia, now another victim.

She deserved more than this, her life already to full of responsibility now about to burst at the seams.

He's his father's son, and now having watched over him was starting to grasp truly how far the old Walter had gone in the name of science. In reality he should have seen this coming, her acceptance of the paranormal, her strong mental capability.

His father's work.

Again the anger flares, he is helpless to do what his heart screams at him to do.

To run, take her and just run. Escape the deaths and deception, broken hearts and traitorous agents.

He is the living flesh and blood of what hurt her.

All he wants now is to protect her, to prove to himself that he isn't worthless and can help those close to him.

So now he forces himself to act with restraint, small touches is all she...he can handle right now.

A light hand on her back as support, eye contact lasting longer then it should, friendly comfort.

And then there are the other times, when all seems hopeless, where they're confused and lost in everything around them. They reach for each other then, arms wrapping around the other, tightening into a hug that neither wants to let go from.

Eventually they separate from those moments, embarrassed to have acted human and shown weakness if for only a moment.

The walls she has built around herself are tall and impenetrable yet slowly they lower around him. They have a bond neither is ready to admit to, but it's there all the same. The understanding they share allows him insight into how she works and from this he knows to be patient. If he were to push for more to quickly she would back away, wary of change.

It's the middle of the night and this is what consumes his thoughts.

Walter is already asleep, mumbling non nonsensical formulas. He's been up for the past 24 hours and yet sleep isn't what he's interested in. She is not invincible, or unaffected like she would like the world to believe.

She is fragile and breakable.

He stays awake the nights following the especially hard cases, ready to help her if she reaches out.

Hell he knows she's probably awake miles away, just as alone as he is right now.

His cell phone glows suddenly in the dark.

It's to his ear before the first ring goes through, it is 3 am and he knows of only one person who would need to talk to this time.

"Peter."

"Liv." He doesn't recognize his own voice. It's too intense, too deep. Where had his cool composure and sarcastic wit gone?

"I...ah..." Her voice breaks, even now she finds it hard to open up.

"Are you at home?"

"Yes," She breathes

"I'll be there in ten minutes."

"Thank you."

His father is responsible for what happened to her as a child but it will be him who puts her back together.

And he hopes she will do the same for him.

Step by step.

Well theres another quick fringe moment. I have tons of these in my mind I just never have the time to write them out. Sorry about the length of it, it seemed better short then to long.

Read n' Review.
