The Veil
Vampires; great beings of power, strength and speed, they took the blood of others to stay alive, be they humanoids or animals. They were the rulers of the west.
Elves; beings of wisdom and purity, with the knowledge of their forefathers they were the teachers of the races. They were the rulers of the east.
Werewolves; mediators and warriors, armies were shaken just facing them. They enforced the laws of the lands with iron fists. They were the rulers of the south.
Humans; creators and destroyers, known for the wonders they create and the destruction they bring. They were the rulers of the north.
These four species lived in relative peace, co-existing with each other by keeping to their lands and staying out of the others business, not even acknowledging one another if they were in the same place.
The fragile peace broke when war came to the world. The humans had decided they wanted more land, more power, the Werewolves and the Dragons worked together to fight them while the Elves remained neutral, many of each race died, perishing, either from battle or the wounds and diseases that accumulated.
The war came to a point that it was clear that if it did not stop all life would come to an end; a short truce was called to solve the problem.
The Vampires, Werewolves and Humans argued about what should be done, the humans wished for the others to surrender, to give them what they wanted, the vampires wished for the destruction of the human kind, while the werewolves wished to return the ruling to the way it was just little less power for the humans then what was.
The arguing continued till the leader of the elves had enough and proposed an idea, using the life force of half the people of each race they would create 4 veils to cover the world creating new dimensions where each race would be allowed to live with no interference from the others, it was agreed.
It was decided that the knowledge of the war and veils were to be lost to the next generation leaving only a scroll to each race containing the information that could not be found until such a time that the veils weakened and needed to be strengthened.
