I Don't own! Yet… mua ha ha!

Lady Knight Keladry of Mindelan sat silently in the mess hall. She wasn't even bothering to hide her emotions anymore. Her face was a mask of pain.

This isn't happening to me.

Her friends were gathered around her- Owen, Neal, Faleron, Merric, Seaver, Esmond.

Owen watched her stonily, he probably thought it was his fault. And you know what? She couldn't look at him either.

Perhaps it is is his fault! He's a knight! He's meant to be a bandit hunter. Who am I kidding?

Me.

They came to visit me.

I should have sent an escort! Not just let them die! Not let bandit scum kill them all!

This can't be happening to me.

Neal was seated opposite her. She felt guilty for the grief that was in his eyes. She remembered that he had lost brothers in the Immortals War. But he had been a scholar at the time. He couldn't have done anything to stop it.

It's not happening.

The others looked at her with pity, and that was what she hated most of all.

I don't want their pity! Not when it...

She couldn't even say it in her head.

Except for Seaver.

Seaver had watched a Spidren kill his father. He understood the grief.

The guilt.

Kel caught Seaver's eye and looked towards the door. He understood and pointed to another table, commenting on the latest returned knight.

And when they looked back, Kel was gone.
