This will be my first fanfiction story, it might end up good or end up bad.

Prologue: Darkness Rising

Tears rolled down his eyes as he ran as fast as he could in his now unfamiliar settings, it was not but moments ago that his future would be forever changed. His innocence was ripped from him by the Monsters that had ruthlessly slaughtered his entire orphanage.

Running down the streets his thoughts were overcome with the visions of watching his friends being ripped apart, he was covered in his friend's blood. His legs felt as though they were going to collapse under all the pressure his upper body was exerting. There was something inside of him that pushed him forward.

It can't end here… It can't!

He wiped his tears away as he cut a corner on the unfamiliar New York streets, there was not a soul around except for his pursuers. His eyes went as wide as saucers and his cries grew louder when he realized that he was at a dead end. In a back alley stained with graffiti was where he realized he would die. His face was one of disbelief and shock as his eyes had taken on a cold look.

Behind him, he started to hear the cackling laughter approach him that was forever etched in his mind. His eyes now as wide as saucers and full of tears looked in fear as his legs gave up on him and he fell on the ground. From the alley came two winged hags still cackling, covered in blood. One of the hags stopped her cackling for a minute as she stared at him, it was soon replaced with an even louder laugh. She spoke as she approached the boy brandishing a large whip.

"Wretched half-breed, the Moirae shall witness your death!"

In a state of shock the boy, Perseus tried to stand up but couldn't. He realized that he was going to die, he would die without ever seeing his parent's face. His tears had run dry, his throat was dry and he felt like he was suffocating but with all his strength he choked out a sentence.

"W-why are you doing this," he said weakly barely loud enough for the hag slowly inching towards to hear.

"The prey can never understand the predator, you were born to die disgusting half-breed!"

Seemingly provoked the hag dashed towards the Boy raising her whip and in a blink of the eye brought it down of Perseus's face.

Percy screamed in pain and felt warm liquid drip down his face before all his senses became numb. He felt like he was split open from the single whip lashing.

"Wahaha with this whip you will feel the pain of being bound"

Black smoke had started to come out of Perseus's wounds before another lashing created another large gash across his chest followed by his screams of pain. Both of the hags laughed in unison at the boy's suffering and got pleasure from torturing him.

"Oh, how sweet the screams of a half-spawn are!"

Lashing after lashing, they kept coming in different degrees of pain yet with everyone he started to feel it less and less. Inside of him, a voice spoke, this is not your time to die. The words given to him from this voice sparked a resistance within him, suddenly as though the lashings never happened he screamed with all his might while jumping up.

"Die!" He said as shadows around him started to morph into sharp objects and propel themselves towards the Hags.

The Hags screeched as they were ruthlessly dismembered by the shadow's which acted sentient in their attack, morphing from blades to hands in their quest to completely destroy the Hags. Fading into black smoke one of them screeched at Perseus one last sentence.

"YOU….. WILL…. DIE!"

Sweat poured from the young boy's face as he collapsed in a pool of his own blood. Suddenly from the end of an alley, the sound of clapping could be heard and Perseus with his fading vision saw the approaching figure of a tall man with dark wings and golden eyes.

"Truly, what a show that was. It is not every day I get to witness my most hated of enemies get ripped apart." The Man spoke in charm, as he walked towards Perseus.

Perseus attempted to get up but sharp pain and dizziness made him fall right back down. Tears once again filled his eyes as the shock of the situation had slowly started to take it effect, and with it, the pain of his injuries also returned.

The Man now in front of Perseus scooped him up in his hands shaking his head. Perseus had slowly lost vision as he stared into the golden eyes of the man who was holding him. His last memories were of him passing into a dense black fog.

Night has taken its placeholder in the sky as the sun set on the Horizon. The passing of day to night was a magical occurrence for Perseus who saw the moon as the only beacon of light in his life of Darkness. Someday he mused that he wanted to meet whoever took care of it, the only light in the night full of darkness.

Born on the doorstep of an orphanage Perseus never had a recollection of his mother or father's but often had dreams involving them, they would be dark faceless figures only furthering his own fear of isolation. Yet as much as he tried to defy the fate set before him, he could never escape the curse of his blood even at the age of 12 it had come to murder him.

Even now he was carelessly dreaming of a better life even on the verge of death. There was a lucidity to this dream that Perseus had never before felt, he felt unchained by the shackles of darkness which kept him anchored to the earth.

He felt the dream start to fade after what felt like an eternity, he awoke in a stupor and checked his body for injuries.

As he studied himself he found none of the lash marks that had almost killed him before, out of the comatose state he looked around and noticed he was in a cavern. He called out to the darkness around him and heard an echo, but after this echo, he heard the sound of fluttering and then footsteps.

"W-who's there?" Perseus said with his voice shaking slightly at the pronunciation.

From his left side in the darkness he heard a small laugh, "Come now brother, are you unable to use your gift of vision?" a voice asked from the same direction.

Brother? Gift of Vision? Who is this Person?

"W-what…?" Perseus said slowly trying to mentally digest the situation.

"Concentrate on the Darkness and give yourself the intention to see through it, it will bend to your will as a son of Darkness." the voice replied.

Perseus not fully understanding the implications of what the Voice said followed its orders. Staring into the abyss before him he focused his thoughts on the intention of wanting to see through it. Closing his eyes he focused even harder before he felt a sensation pass up his spine.

He opened his eyes and was openly shocked to see that the darkness no longer clouded his vision, it was as if he had Night Vision or something. More importantly, he looked at the voice and his mouth flew open and his eyes became as wide as saucers. He saw the familiar image of a tall pale man with golden iris eyes similar to his and tall black wings. He had flowing black hair and had a look of amusement on his face while staring at Perseus.

"Are you surprised young Perseus? I had figured that after you slain the Keres you would still be in a state of shock." The Man said now walking towards Perseus

Approaching the now sitting Perseus the man kneeled and stared intrigued at Perseus before speaking again.

"I'll reveal to you this world that has long been hidden from you, a world that wants to have you dead because of your very nature. I've grown tired of the shallow fabric of Fate that holds up this universe, it is why I am here and why I saved you, you will be the one who will cut this fabric." The Man said with a fervor that gave Perseus chills

Perseus looking at the Man had felt a bond being formed, less and less he felt the need to be nervous and asked another question.

"Who are you?"

The Man standing up from his kneel smiled wholeheartedly, "I am Thanatos, God of Death and also your brother."

Almost like clockwork Perseus's jaw dropped as he was taking in the information,

"My b-brother? H-how could my brother be a God? How can there be any Gods!" Perseus said with tears threatening to escape from his eyes.

"Have you not realized it within yourself? You aren't a normal human, you're a child of Prophecy. The first demi-protogenoi child to ever survive the womb." Thanatos said now grabbing Perseus as to give emphasis to his words.

Perseus shook his head trying to understand it all, somehow it was all starting to make sense to him. The times where he would hear spirits in the darkness talk to him, and the comfort he would often find in the pitch black…

It was almost as if the twelve years he had been alive were just a period of sleep, a period of sleep all meant to lead up to this one moment. At this moment he felt that he could truly be alive. He looked up at Thanatos and asked him a question that he had wanted to know the answer to for a decade,

"Who is my father?"

Thanatos had a grin cross his face and put his hand on top on Perseus's head as a way to congratulate him.

"You're the Son of Erebus, Primordial of Darkness."

Perseus stared down on the cavern floor, all of this had come to him so fast yet it all made more sense to him than anything else ever did. His father wasn't a human, he was a god among gods. Perseus satisfied with the answer looked up and asked,

"What do I do now?"

Thanatos stood up a stared across the cavern. He laughed before answering,

"I will escort you to the God who will be your Host, Lord Hades"
