I doesn't matter that your heart beats every time you see her warm smile, and it definitely doesn't hurt when lovely words are directed to the person next to her and not you.
You are a Sonoda, descendent of the greatest warriors, always protecting and serving your lord, in your case it was the princess.
You are childhood friends and you always protected her, you never thought about leaving her side, after all you're her warrior.
You never expected to fall for her, fall for her kindness, her big amber eyes, her voice, her long ash hair and those lips you long to kiss. She's a forbidden fruit that you want to taste.
The princess birthday is approaching, and you know how much she loves dancing. So you don't waste time and go to the theater, people say they have the best dancers and the best performance in the city.
Music comes alive and the dancing leave you speechless. The way the dance matches the music draws you, is not a slow rhythm as you expected, is lively and cheerful. In the center there's a girl, who guides the others, she gives everyone a warm smile as she moves gracefully around.
There are flower petals falling around them and you don't think that you have seen such a beautiful scene, but you did. Months ago… the princess singing softly along the birds in the morning, with the sun kissing her skin and making her glow in you eyes… You snap off your daydream when the music stops and people start clapping.
You wait until the place is a little more empty, with your eyes you start looking for the girl from before. As your eyes meet, she approaches you.
"Is there anything I can help you with?"
"Yes, I work under the Minami family, and.."
"And the princess birthday is approaching.. Yes, I know.. We already made plans with the others guards. We are going to take part of it" she responds before you could even finish, and she is sporting a little grin while you're frowning.
"Yes.. But I would like to request something a little different"
"A request?" her expression changes to a more curious one and you give her a little smile of your own.
"My name's Sonoda Umi, and I'm a childhood friend of the princess.. I know she loves dancing and music.. And I was wondering if you could dance just like before, the cheerful and lively dance. I'm sure she would love it"
"... Normally we do traditional dancing on those events.. But we can arrange something for the princess" you feel your smile growing at her words and she gives one of her own.
"Well… Now I need to get to work on the choreography… You can come next week and watch our practice and see if you like it…" she says.
"Wouldn't I be a bother?" you ask.
"No… After all, this is your gift to the princess…" she gives you a little knowing look and goes away. You're so surprised that you forgot to ask her name.
"The name's Yazawa Nico! I will see you next week Sonoda-san!" You hear her in the distance accompanying with her carefree laugh.
"... Yazawa Nico" it's a beautiful name.
