Chapter One: No One Mourns a Villain

The people of Middleton crowded around the stub of a plane ticket, left in the chaos of an airport terminal. After studying the name on the ticket, they discovered why she'd left.

Shame.

Good news!

She's gone!

Sydney Lipsky is gone!

Sydney Rachael Lipsky, the enemy of all us here in Middleton, is gone!

Good news!

Good news!

Sydney Lipsky had never been welcome in the town, although she came from a well-off family. It was only a secret to her and her sister who her parents were. Her aunt knew, the townsfolk knew, and even those in Upperton and Lowerton knew. She didn't find out until she was sixteen. She was ashamed of who she was.

Look, it's Kim!

Kim Possible, the famed teen hero, stepped forward to examine the document. "Yep, it's hers all right." She said with a grim expression. "Funny. She never seemed much of the type to up and leave like that."

Fellow Middletonians,

Let us be happy

Let us be thankful,

Let us celebrate the fact that I could subdue

The evil plottings of you-know-who!

Isn't it nice to know that I'm protecting you all,

That your students are safe in study hall,

That you won't have a single worry at a-

"Yes she would," countered a citizen. "She's a coward, just like her father!"

No one mourns a villain!

No one begs them to return!

No one sculpts a statue in their name!

The good ones scorn the villains,

Through their lives my students learn

What they'll miss when they misbehave!

"We've got to find her," Kim explained. "In her state, there's no telling what kind of stuff she'll get herself into." She paused. "Ron, are you coming?"

"Um, yeah, KP, I guess." Ron shrugged. He'd liked Syd, but this recent development made him nervous and unsure of the girl.

And we all know

A villain's life is lonely

We all know

A villain will live alone

It just shows when you're villainous

The blame is always your own

"You're a fool, Possible!" A woman in the back of the crowd yelled. "A fool! She'll just trick you and kill you!"

Yes, we all know

A villain's life is lonely

We all know

A villain lives alone

Nothing goes good for a villain,

They get only what they've shown

"Guys, she's not a hundred percent evil. She was raised by the one great teen hero before me." Kim sighed. "She was raised right. She's only used her powers for good, at least from what I've seen." But Kim had to wonder...

Are people born evil?

Or is evilness displayed to them?

After all, she had an aunt, she had an uncle

As all of us do

But, like all families,

They had some skeletons in their closet.

Kim didn't deny that Syd had had some minor family problems. Her parents were, naturally, deemed unfit to raise her and Des. They were given to their aunt, Jessie Lipsky. Jessie, after receiving the girls, had settled down from her crimefighting and raised them.

And from the moment she was a year old,

It was obvious she was...different.

There was an incident, a year after Syd's birth, where it was evident she had special superpowers. Jessie was playing with the girl and her sister on the grass at a local park, and was trying to teach the twins how to walk.

Come on, kiddo, get to walking!

You can do it!

Just get on the grass!

Sweet Lord!

How can it be,

What will this mean?

That's crazy!

That'll cause harm!

Like an active Hawaiian volcano,

The kid is unnaturally warm!

Jessie took Syd's hand and found that it was searing hot.

So you see, it wasn't very easy!

No one mourns a villain,

Now at last she's fled and gone,

Now at last there's joy in town!

And we all know

We know what goodness is

We all know

A villain lives alone

Woe to those

Who spurn her heroism

They are shown

No one mourns a villain!

But now Syd was gone. No more happy days, no more family, no...nothing. Absolutely nothing but a ticket stub left in the dust.

Good news!

No one mourns a villain!

Good news!

No one mourns a villain!

A villain!
A villain!
