Valentines Day is usually a day to celebrate love. For the Japanese students, it was a day for the ladies to give the gentleman of their choice a chocolate (until they would repay them on White Day).
It is on this day that some may call fortunate and unfortunate. For Takeru Takaishi it was a tiresome day. Captain of the basketball team, handsome, an outstanding student, and an all around gentleman, today was a day where he spent countless times denying and denying many hopeful girls.
Perhaps it was because this blond, blue-eyed gentleman was the embodiment of "hope"… spreading hope for those around him. Ironically, Valentines was the day was the day he always managed to crush those ladies' dreams.
Takeru Takashi sighed in irritation watching his current 'victim' away. "Why am I cursed?" he muttered to the sky, hoping for some answer.
"Hey Takeru-kun!" Takeru smiled at the source of the voice. "Hi Hikari-chan!" he greeted happily as the brunette, pink clad girl ran forward to walk with him.
"Don't you just love the cold weather?" she asked as he laughed in reply. "There's so much happiness and warmth," she gushed lifting a cup of warm liquid to her lips.
"If you keep turning down those chocolates, you'll end up as a loser for a whole year!" Hikari smiled teasingly up at her long time friend.
Takeru grinned back, knowing full well that he'd only accept chocolate from the digidestined females. "That's not true Kari-chan. You always give chocolates to me on Valentines."
Hikari laughed, "But Takeru-chan! This year's different. This year I'm only going to give one chocolate out."
Takeru frowned in confusion then brightened, "Right! Your secret love! You've never told me who it was before… and Hikari-chan, best friends don't keep secrets from each other."
Hikari-chan smiled mysteriously, "Oh you'll know soon enough Takeru-kun."
Takeru shrugged and smiled as they reached Hikari's home, "Well, I'm sure mom has some chocolate waiting for me at home… that or Sora-chan has some leftovers she didn't give nii-san."
Hikari laughed and gave him the Styrofoam cup she was holding. "You can have the rest if you want. It'll keep you warm on your way home."
Takeru nodded, "Well I'll see you tomorrow."
Takeru turned to go home, his teeth chattering from the cold. Bringing the cup to his lips, he drank allowing the warm liquid to heat his body. He smiled muttering, "Mmm…. Chocolate…"
--------The Next Day-------
Hikari smiled happily as Takeru came to greet her. "Ohayo Takeru-kun!" Takeru smiled and leaned forward and gave the anxious brunette a soft kiss, "Thanks for the chocolate."
