Title: Ode To A Teddy Bear

Author: Indigo Night

Feedback: Yes please

Summary: All the ways in which Derek Morgan is not like a teddy bear.

Disclaimer: I do not own Criminal Minds or the characters.

Spoilers: Not really.

Pairing: See Author's note.

Warnings: Tiny bit of implied angst, tiny potentially implied slash (again, see author's note)

Author's Note: Not sure where this came from. It just popped into my head, but I like it. In my mind I was writing it from Reid's perspective, but his name is never said so it really could be anyone. Also, in my there's some slash going on. However, the only place that's noticeable is the one place where the word 'kiss' is used, so if you prefer a more friendship-based take, then simply replace 'kiss' in your mind with 'wipe' or some other equally suitable synonym. Either way, just a bit a cute schmoop. Read, Review,

ENJOY!

Derek Morgan was nothing like a teddy bear.

Teddy bears were soft and squishy. You could squeeze them as hard as you wanted and they would never complain. And those times when you really, really just wanted to curl up in as small a ball as possible, if you held them tight enough they would get smaller too. When you cried into them, your tears vanished, absorbed into the material and taken away from you. They were perfect listeners, and they never interrupted.

Derek Morgan was none of those things.

He was definitely not soft or squishy; every inch of him was solid, chiseled muscle. When you wanted to curl up into a small enough ball that the whole world would just forget you and leave you alone, he didn't get smaller. In fact, he got bigger; he wrapped himself around you, like he's cocooning you in a warm, protective bubble. When he cried, Morgan didn't absorb his tears and make them vanish; instead, he kissed them away. And he wasn't a perfect listener, but when you finished talking, he always had something helpful and comforting to say back.

No, Derek Morgan was nothing like a teddy bear.

He was so much better.
