The Claws of a Bone

Prologue

The wind howled all around the camp. It was as if a pack of wolves formed around them. There had once been wolves here. Giant paw prints were frozen in the snow. It was only moons ago when they attacked. A pack of wolves who could speak cat wanting to take their land and fresh kill but luckily two of the other clans came to help, EchoClan and MistClan.

There are four clans in this forest: ShadeClan, which is were the wolves attacked, MistClan the fish hunters, EchoClan, the runners, and BoneClan, the secret. No one knows where BoneClan camps. Tonight there was no moon but the stars of Silverpelt shed rays of little light. Thick brambles surrounded the hollow with many stone caves down near the bottom and a ledge sticking out of one of them. Underneath that ledge had a carving that looked like it was naturally cut in it, a star. The one next to that had a leaf and the one near the slope had a claw with a mark underneath meaning warrior. The last one with a carving was a smaller version of the claw with no marking underneath meaning apprentice. The last two dens without markings were the elders den and the nursery. They were near the medicine cats' den which was the leaf marked den.

In the warriors den there was one cat, an orange she-cat with black tabby stripes. She was twitching in her sleep. Soon though the twitching turned into thrashing until she woke up suddenly with deep scars on her shoulder. Her sea green eyes looked around in panic as she got up carefully maneuvering around the other cats. Once she was out in the open she stretched and sighed, muttering in frustration. "The same dream of old bones, and a flame engulfing the camp, why though?"

"Tigerlily why are you up so late?" a voice called out from behind her. "Is it that dream again?"

Tigerlily looked behind her to see the familiar icy blue eyes of her father, Flarestorm. She got his orange pelt but her mothers black stripes and sea green eyes. Although her mother had been taken and she did not know where her mother was now. Tigerlily and her father kept hoping she would come home even when the others lost hope. "Yeah it was the dream. Why do I keep seeing old bones and flames engulfing our camp?"

"I don't know but maybe you should go to see Whitecloud in the morning." He pauses for a second. "For now try and sleep." He licked her ears and went back into the Warriors den.

Tigerlily dips her head, padding towards the warriors den as well. Slowly she made her way back to her nest, curling up and closing her eyes.
