Savage Ooo

A harsh wind blew across a field that was empty, save for a single tree. Just a few miles north lay a mountain range comprised completely of ice, ruled by an insane wizard. The land was full of bloodthirsty creatures, savage evils, and two humans.

A man stumbled out of the eastern forests, holding a small bundle and a spear.

"Crud." He looked to the edge of the forest, panting. "Didn't I get any of 'em?" A large pack of why-wolves burst from the trees, snarling, howling, and looking absolutely terrifying. The man put down his bundle and brandished his spear. They circled the man, hackles raised, saliva dripping from their jaws. Then he did the stupidest thing possible—he charged.

"DIE!"

The why-wolves seemed surprised, as if their prey had never run towards them. Which it probably hadn't.

Once in the midst of the pack, the man became a dervish, whirling his spear, slitting throats, spilling blood. A why-wolf leapt at him, burying its fangs in his ribcage. Hissing in rage, the man swiped at the wolf before it could do any real damage.

Too late.

The why-wolf's fangs had punctured his heart and one of his lungs. Blood gushed out of the wound as the man buried his sword in the skull of the why-wolf. When he was done with the slaughter, he was surrounded by corpses, blood, and steaming entrails. Looming over the man was the feeling that every second, his life was slipping away. Hollowing out a body, the man slipped his bundle inside.

"I'm sorry… I couldn't protect you, son. I brought you this far. Hopefully, you can still achieve my dream—becoming a hero.

"Finn, my blessing goes with you." With that, the man scrawled the name "Finn" on the snow, and exhaled his last breath.

"Joshua? JOSHUA!" "What?" "I found a baby. I think his name is Finn."

"What gives you that idea?" "Well, it's written in the snow, so…."

"Let's take him home."
