HEY, FUKU-TAICHO
inspired by a picture I saw, it's soooooo cute! I love it. Anyway. Onto the story!
It drove him crazy. It really drove him crazy. How could renji just sit there in the silence, working and working on his pile of paper work without complaint?
Not a whine or a groan or even a little cuss word.
Silence.
He hadn't seen Renji this determined to work since the time he told him he'd let him drink all he wanted after he finished (which resulted in sloppy work that he had to do all over). Strange that he hadn't said a would, yet his fuku-taicho was working so efficiently.
It was like he was plotting something...
He wasn't going to ask though. But it was disturbing his concentration. He was used to hearing rants and cussing and sighs. Without them it just didn't feel right.
Byakuya sighed to himself, trying and failing to concentrate on the paper in front of him. 'Aaaaa, Zaraki-Taicho was causing trouble...' he thought, before his concentration slipped again and he found himself glancing over at Renji once more.
Why did his fuku-taicho have to be so difficult? Yes, whenever he spoke, he tended to send icy glares his way, telling him shut up. but that had never stopped Renji before. Why was he being so quiet now?
"I'm leaving for a little, Renji. Continue without me." Renji barely glanced up, jerking his head in a crude nod. And he continued his work.
Byakuya stopped by Ukitake's, asking about Rukia's missions. He grabbed a cup of tea from a café tucked away in the Rukon district before he returned to the sixth division's office. He could see a fresh pile of paper work on his desk. And Renji working.
Still...
In silence...
Normally, when he left for a little while it resulted in loud singing when he got back and a total fiasco.
But what was happening now?
Silence.
Well, if Renji wouldn't talk, Byakuya would just have to make him.
"Hey, Fuku-Taicho." Byakuya said softly. Renji grunted, still not really paying attention. Byakuya approached him silently. "Look up." Renji did, and Byakuya grabbed his chin and kissed him. Renji's eyes widened.
"Wh-what the hell?" Renji asked, confused but not at all disagreeing with his Taicho's display of affection.
"Don't stay so silent anymore. It makes me think your plotting something." Byakuya said this simply, choosing to ignore the mumbled reply of 'I'm plotting something? What about you?'
He reminded himself that this was the most effective way to get Renji talking. And to keep it that way.
