Okay...I'm kind of stuck on the next part of the Dark Night Saga.

So...I'm attempting a song-fic...Bear with me.

This song is from the English adaptation of stage musical "Notre Dame de Paris" altered slightly
to fit Inu-Yasha. I'm making no money from this...

The musical was originally written in French and then translated, so I thought it appropriate to
give credit where it is due. The original lyrics were done by Luc Plamondon and the English lyrics
were written by Will Jennings.

Moon
by Sango-sama

The moon full, basking the world below in an ethereal glow. The demons were out ravaging the
countryside.

One particular demon -- a half demon -- at the height of his power had lost his senses.

And struck down one very dear to him.

Moon
You who shine your light
Bright on the silent night
See How a man
Suffers all for love

Inu-Yasha could only stare at his hands.

Guilt choked his speech, as the thick crimson liquid rolled down his arms.

Clear
Solitary star
So far
When the day returns
Please hear
Up there so high
The cry of the world

Tears welled in Miroku's eyes, as he slid his hands over her face, shutting her eyes so to let her
rest in death.

Curling up beside her, Shippou sniffled. "Kagome..."

"No...Kagome." Sango shook her head in disbelief.

Miroku gathered Sango in his arms and the dam holding back her tears broke.

Inu-Yasha bowed his head reverently, masking his tears.

Please hear the cry
Of a man in pain
For whom
All those million stars
Don't shine
Like those shining eyes
He loves
With a mortal love
Moon

"No...Kami...NOooooo..."

Moon
Please don't disappear
Before
You have time to hear
Just hear
How cries the heart
Of the human beast

His canine instincts betrayed him once again as he threw back his head and bellowed to the moon.

Please hear the cry
Inu-Yasha cries
He cries
For his heart is full
His voice
Over mountains flies
So high
That I know it flies to you
Moon!

The others had left, but Inu-Yasha remained at her side.

"Kagome..." he whispered, rubbing away a few loose tears.

Brushing away the free hair from her face, he spoke gently, "Sleep my Kagome..."

See
How this man aspires
To join
His poor voice with angels

Overcome by his sorrowful guilt, the tears washed down his face, dripping onto Kagome's still,
somber face.

"She's still beautiful... not even death can take that from her."

He reached over and pressed salty lips to her cold ones.

He could still taste the blood.

Her blood.

His lip quivered as the tears began anew.

Pulling out Tetsusaiga, he made a choice.

There was but one way he could right this wrong.

He would never hurt another.

Moon
You who shine your light
For
Poets as they write
See
How a man
Suffers all for love
For love

Sango stood in the entryway, holding a sleeping Shippou. "Miroku..."

Setting the parchment down, he turned to Sango. "It is finished. No one will forget their
story."

I love this musical. It is so sad, but the music is gorgeous. I always listen to it when I need
an angst fix.

The English version of this song 'Moon' is sung by Bruno Pelletier.

I'm considering doing a few more song fics with music from this show...please tell me what you think!
