Ringabel woke with a tense start, blinking his groggy eyes as he tried to distinguish the shadows of the night around him, almost not recognizing the room he was in. Adding to the growing panic he was feeling, sounds that roused him from his sleep grumbled and howled outside, drawing his attention to the gaping windows arcing around the four beds. A dark and looming forest stood tall everywhere, caging them in and hiding most of the horrors that thrived outside. The most prominent of those horrors were the gleaming pair of purple eyes that stared back right at him.
A zombie wolf.
Ringabel grimaced at the sight of the horrendous beast, the moonlight showing the beast in crisp detail. The dead, empty gaze, the ruined fur, a mangled body, and a gaping mouth with drool and blood dripping from its teeth. Ringabel instinctively gripped the sheets tighter the longer the undead wolf peered in, knowing about the guests that were staying in the Sage's home.
The Sage reassured them that they were safe and that monsters couldn't get in, but it was still unnerving seeing an open window between him and the undead wolf. His fears settled slightly as the zombie wolf turned and limped away, back into the shadows of the forest and out of sight.
Glancing around the room to check on his crew, he raised an alarmed brow when he saw that Tiz and Agnes' beds empty, before he relaxed with a smirk. Tiz and Agnes gone? The lucky dog.
Smirking he fell back into bed, chuckling to himself. Who would have thought that Tiz had it in him?
And before him too.
But his own goal took time; while Tiz and Agnes were lucky enough to click. If only he was just as lucky.
Rolling to his side, he peered through the shrouds of the room to Edea's still, slumbering form, oblivious to the nightly stranger outside or the two missing that were enjoying each other's company.
It was surprising how much of a still sleeper Edea is with how boisterous and lively she was. D's journal always mentioned how she was a peaceful sleeper, it never clicked in his head that D meant how still and quiet she was. She just fell back into the bed, picked a position to sleep in, and was still for the rest of the night.
Smiling fondly, his eyes soaked in the details of his angel. Her round, heart shaped face, her bushy blonde hair that was tangling up with her peaceful nestle into the bed. Her clothes were a little wrinkled, an occasional sigh slipping through her lips, her eyelids flickering slightly. She was sleeping a little curled up tonight, gripping the sheets tight as they wrapped around her in a slight cocoon, helping her stay warm.
He wondered if they ever shared a bed, would she still cocoon herself in sheets, or cling and bury herself in his arms for warmth, letting them share the sheets together. Closing his eyes with a content smile, he listened to her even breathing instead, already dreaming and imagining the feel of her smaller body pressed against his, her head tucked under his chin, her arms around his torso, their legs tangled, and her breathe tickling at his neck.
It was a good dream tonight.
