Prologue
It was a bright spring day the birds were singing, there wasn't a cloud in the sky, the Colonel smirking visage was locked in his office with only Hawkeye and his paperwork for company. There weren't any egocentric prophets, insane alchemists or homunculus to be seen when as the fullmetal alchemist and his brother came meandering down the sidewalk to Ed's favorite bakery on the outskirts of Central, when three things happened simultaneously.
First, the desperate man robbing a small hardware store next to the bakery burst out the door seeing the military police alerted by the shouting of scared customers coming for him he turned and fired repeatedly. Second, Al not paying attention to where he was going in the disturbance tripped dislodging his helmet just enough for the one stray bullet to hit the blood seal binding him to the antique armor sending it crashing to the street eerily reminiscent of the fall of a dead body. Third, Edward Elric's heart shattered.
