So it's been a while FF... And now I am officially on the Leyna boat, so be expecting some one-shots on the way :) I'm thinking of doing a series, this was just the only one-shot that's style didn't fit. I trying some of those "repeating last sentence thing-ys". Also, just so you know, I think that Reyna's dad was probably a businessman and that she would write letters to Hylla a lot. Okay, now enjoy:
Since the day she was born Reyna was never a laugher. She knew it too; she just never really found anything to be that funny. Hylla told her it was because of her mother and father, since she was Roman and serious. and he was strict and a businessman. But still, Reyna always wondered if maybe it was because she just didn't know anyone really funny yet.
On Circe's island the visitors usually made jokes. The pirates were dirty and made her feel uncomfortable, but the other visitors (from a plane crash, rescue boat, etc.) were pretty funny. But never enough to really make her laugh. Hylla told her it was because she was younger, and didn't get it. But Reyna always wondered if it was because she was too mature, and was past it.
At Camp Jupiter there weren't many funnies. Everyone was serious and battle ready, just like her. When she met Jason she thought he was perfect, because they were both so serious, so powerful. But then he never kissed her back or showed that he loved her. Hylla said it was because he wasn't serious enough. But in her head Reyna always wondered if maybe it was because he was too serious.
The day Percy Jackson arrived; she came the closest to laughter in a long, long time. He was silly and funny and at times she smiled. Yet still he could fight like a whole army with just his sword. But he was taken and she knew she wasn't really into him. Hylla said she met him and he wasn't very focused. But inside Reyna knew he was just too focused on finding his girlfriend.
The day the Argo II landed, Reyna saw Jason. He was confused but excited and had a gorgeous girl on his arm. She knew she had lost him and for some reason she was okay with it. Reyna saw Percy and Annabeth unite and knew they were meant to be.
Then she looked around. Everyone seemed to have someone with him or her- Piper and Jason, Hazel and Frank, Percy and Annabeth, some Faun and a pretty dryad, even a Cyclops and a harpie. Everyone but her.
But wait… there was someone else. The pretty girl, Piper, she punched him in the arm after he teased her and Jason. He was… funny, and quite handsome. Reyna smiled, a big bright smile without even realizing it. Hylla told her she was going ditsy. But secretly, Reyna didn't even care.
At the first senate meeting between the Romans and the Greeks, Reyna had to bit her tongue. Because for the first time she really wanted to laugh, but it would look weak in front of the Greeks. Or maybe not- they seemed to laugh at the boy- Leo- a lot. He was random, funny, yet he was an amazing builder. Hylla told her she was wasting her time- that she needed to let him go. But personally, Reyna wouldn't leave him for the world.
When she actually talked to Leo Valdez, she knew she was in love. He made her laugh and laugh. She never really knew what it was like before, but she loved it now. Having someone who really card about you. Laughing with him.
Hylla said she had lost her marbles. But Reyna faced her and laughed.
