A/N: Because I'm in a DGM mood and I'm hating my writing so I'm just not thinking.

Have a high school AU. Not sure if I'll continue this universe or not.

Kanda was two years older than him. A senior. They had no classes together, Allen only seeing him at lunch and during breaks. He didn't even know Allen's name, let alone that he existed.

Kanda was on the basketball team. He was the reason Allen decided to try out. Allen didn't make the team. Lenalee had assured him that there was always next year, but there wasn't. Next year Kanda would be gone.

Allen had been in love with Kanda since the first meeting. He was sure Kanda didn't even remember it, but Allen did.

He'd been a freshman, lost and confused, overwhelmed by the sheer size of the school and the students in it. It was lunch and he couldn't find Lenalee in the mob of faces and he'd started to panic. He ended up running to the nearest bathroom and hiding in a stall. He hadn't cried, although he'd wanted to.

It was just too much.

He didn't leave the stall until the bell signaling the end of lunch rang. He splashed some water on his face and stared at his reflection.

"You can do this," he muttered.

That was when he noticed the shadow near the door. He whirled with wide eyes, his tailbone hitting the sink hard enough that he was probably bruised.

"You left this," the shadow said and stepped closer. He recognized the person as Kanda, the school's Ice Prince. He was holding a brown paper bag and Allen realized it was his lunch.

"Oh. Um you didn't have to."

Kanda shoved the bag into Allen's arms, stepping too close. Kanda didn't say anything and Allen felt his heart flutter in nervousness. It was no secret that Kanda was a cold bastard, the entire school knew, and Allen wasn't sure what he would do.

"It's not as scary as you think it is," Kanda finally said. "You just have to take it one day at a time."

"I- um. Thank you."

Kanda nodded and turned, walking out of the bathroom. Allen watched him go, heart still fluttering and confusion clouding his mind. He looked down at his lunch bag and smiled.

It was then that Allen realized Kanda wasn't the cold bastard everyone thought he was.

After that meeting Allen started noticing Kanda everywhere until all he could think about was the navy haired teen. He didn't tell anyone about his crush, not even Lenalee, and now after almost 2 years he knew he was running out of time.

If he didn't confess soon, he'd never have another chance.

He just wasn't sure he could risk it.
