Kyle

On the list of things I wanted to do this year going back to college wasn't one of them. After Hope and Jasmine were born I didn't think I'd ever get to finish college. Now that the girls are both starting preschool mom told me to try and enroll back in classes. I started two weeks ago and am finally getting back into my class schedule. Before I could leave this morning I had to wait for the girls to pick out their clothes and do their hair. I still can't believe how big they have gotten. Hope turns five in a couple weeks and Jasmine turned three in august. Sometimes it seems that my girls and my mom are the only good thing I have left in this world. Right now i'm on my way to my last class. Mr. Floyers and he hates me. Just because I didn't come to class once when Jasmine fell down stairs at daycare and had to be taken to the emergency room. He didn't believe me even when I showed him the paperwork and pictures of Jasmine. I walk into class and see a girl I've never noticed before. She has jet black hair and it's cut in a jagged way that shows that she cut it herself. I sit next to her and notice that she's wearing leggings and a long sleeve shirt. What's with the long sleeves it's like eighty degrees outside?

Today is the worst day of my life or at least one of them. It was going fine until one stupid bitch decided to bring up my scars in class. As I am now thinking about it I should have punched her, But it wouldn't have been worth the detention. I'm sitting in Mr. Floyers which is my last class of the day. I have to be here until 4 ugh. Mr. Floyers class is really just a big study hall where we can ask him any questions about our other classes and he tries to help. I get my stuff out when a brunette with blue tips walks through the door. He looks at me and smiles as he sits next to me. "Shit." I mumble under my breath as I realize who he is. It's Kyle Carlson the school's bad boy and dropout. And i'm now going to be stuck sitting next to him for two hours. Out of all the people I could be stuck with it just had to be him.

As soon as I process that he is sitting next to me I freak out just a little. What if he is as bad as they say he is? I pull out my laptop and start typing my english paper. I notice he is staring so I pull down my sleeves even more so I can hold them while I type. The phone rings and Mr. Floyers says he has to go talk to someone and will be right back.

Literally as soon as he steps out the door Kyle scoots closer to me. "What are you doing?" he asks in a deep voice that sends goosebumps up my arms. "Just an english paper" I say and pause for a second before adding "So what did you have to do to get back in here?".

"I just asked" he says grinning. His teeth are so fucking white.

"Cool. Another question why are you so close to me?"

"Well, I wanted to know your name."

"My name? Um….. It's Alena. And yours is Kyle right?"

"Yes, are you good at math?"

I think about his question probably far too long then I should. "I think I am pretty good I have A's in all of my math classes."

"Good. Do you think you could help me on it after school sometime?" as Kyle asks me this I see now how blue his eyes are. Not as dull as some blues bright and powerful. During this time I wonder if what they say about him is true. I think I'll take the risk.

"Sure. I don't work until friday so anytime after school today or tomorrow just me where….? And I should probably get your number."

I hand him my phone and he types his number into it as I type mine into his. "Why don't you come over tonight so my mom can meet you? So she doesn't freak if you decide to keep coming over." Kyle says this like I might got scared or weirdied out that he still lives with his mom. I don't because I still live with my dad and brother.

"Sure. I'll follow you in my car after school." Kyle smiles and moves away a little bit as Mr. Floyers comes back into the room.
