Naruto Drabbles
1: Not quite a friend
It was lunch time at the school yard,
and everyone was sitting eating their lunch with their friends,
laughing, playing, having a good time, just like little kids do.
Except in one shady spot far in the corner, under a huge tree. There
sat a young boy, his clothes old, dirtied and torn. His yellow hair
grubby and dull and streaked with dried mud. And his cheeks wet with
a clear liquid, his eyes appearing the grey-blue of a storm swept
ocean behind that very liquid which blurred his vision.
Young
Naruto Uzumaki was crying, but he stopped mid sniffle at the ominous
creak from the bench which indicated that someone else had sat down
next to him. Using his sleeve to hide his eyes he sneaked a couple
glances at the intruder, spotting black spiky hair and a white jacket
before glancing down again. And so it came as no surprise when the
mysterious intruders first words betrayed his identity.
"Man,
this is so troublesome."
"Man, this is so troublesome. My best
friend Choji's home sick today with the flu. We always sit together
at lunch so we won't get picked on. The last thing I want to do is
sit alone, that's just asking for trouble. So, you mind if I sleep
here for today?" The little blonde was dumbfounded. Not only was
that the most he'd ever heard the lazy bum say in one go, but he,
was actually asking to sit with him? A shaky reply somehow
managed to slip past his still quivering lips.
"Sure."
A few more lunches passed with Shikimaru and Naruto sitting at the same bench eating their lunch in silence. Naruto would not consider it a friendship, not for many years after, but he did come to realise that that was the most days in a row he had gone without being picked on at lunch in school.
A/n: I know there will be at least 1 more drabble added to this, but after that? Only God knows. This is my 'on a whim' project. My serious projects will be posted when they are completed. (To prevent reader frustration) Take care all, and thankyou in advance for your understanding.
