Quinn's Lovely Adventure(s) with Lux: Le Love Potion
PART I
Quinn sat in the Demacian waiting room. The halls adorned with luminescent marble that shimmered regally into the soft rays of sunlight that sprouted from the clouds in the sky above the marble-granite building. Lux was lying on the floor on two large soft velvet-blue cushions, softly humming to herself happily and kicking her legs in the air as she flipped through the deep red and rusted archaic book she was reading. Valor approached the scout and she gently nuzzled her feathered companion lovingly with the tip of her nose. Quinn's eyes shortly scanned the room. Garen Crownguard, Lux's older brother was piled up on a large bean bag behind Lux. Sleeping noisily with his mouth open. His chest heaved up as silently as it slowly moved down. Behind Garen was Prince Jarvan, who had crossed his arms and unlike Garen, has his mouth closed, sleeping regally under the sleepy day. Valor burbled a soft something in his throat and Quinn clutched him in her arms and rose from the cushioned chair was sitting in. Outside in the soft green grass, Xin Hao was resting underneath the tree. The wind gently gracing his hair like tall grass in the oceans. Quinn smirked with a small smile and pointedly, tip toed passed the others to also rest in the cushioned corner where a soft blue silken mat with pillows were. Quinn placed Valor first on the floor who hobbled to the nearest pink cushion. Quinn's legs creaked as she bent down when suddenly she felt a tap on her shoulders. The scout's head turned to face the bright blue eyes and cheery smile of Lux who was bobbing up and down gingerly with the almost worn-out book. Quinn lowered her head and placed a hand on her knees.
"Lux... What is it that you want?"
Lux giggled and was quietly bounding up and down like a soft snow bunny, "oh Quinn!" she squealed, "you wouldn't believe what I found!" Quinn looked at her sheepishly with a loose smile and raised her hand.
"Oh... is it a nice story?" Lux laughed and shook her head again and looked at her eyes intensely and inched towards her ears. Quinn's eyes looked curiously and the slowly approaching blond but she sat still anyway. The wonder and tension of the mystery bubbled in Quinn's stomach. The whispered voice was ushered into the ear of the keen but still scout.
"I found a love potion recipe!"
Quinn reeled back, and shook her head twice then backed away and turned to face Lux. The scouts hands almost crunched a sleeping Valor she luckily avoided and saw him just before that happened and side stepped away in time. The mostly laid back Quinn hissed through her teeth.
"What?"
Lux smiled and giggled again and nodded happily. "Yes! It's a love potion!" Lux then sat down on her knees to be at the height of the crouching bird-like position Quinn was in. The scout froze for a second and looked at her legs and recognized this. Oh.. She thought. Slowly she moved her legs beneath her to be sitting crossed legged across the mage prodigy before her. Quinn nonchalantly raised an arm in the air while her left hand stroked the wings of a sleeping Valor.
"Well, what do you want to do with it Lux?" The blonde rolled her eyes ecstatically and gave an exasperated sigh. She placed the book on the ground beside her and clutched both of Quinn's hands in hers.
"Oh come on, Quinn! Don't act like you don't know what anyone wants to do with a love potion recipe." Quinn's eyes stared into the eyes of Lux.
Oh please don't tell me she wants to make a love potion. Quinn decided to play oblivious to avoid that scenario. She looked away awkwardly.
"Umm, I don't really know Lux... erm... what do you want to do?" Quinn silently face palmed herself mentally. Silly, you just made it so obvious to go down that path. Urgh, fool, I really deserve this.
Lux cocked her head to the side and she was lying on the ground, her bright golden hair splayed below on the polished marble floor, her arms clutched the book above from her chest and she breathed in the air and sighed happily as she looked at the book. She then clutched it happily with a girly squeal. "Oh silly Quinn! Don't you see? You know you want to make a love potion too! All girls would want to..." Lux gave a child-like mischievous look at Quinn, "I'm sure you wanted too in the past when you maybe your first crush when you were young right?" Quinn jumped back and hissed in disgust.
"Ugh! Lux, that's gross-" she paused, "and I never liked anybody." Lux stopped laughing on the floor and paused, looking at her with wide questioning eyes and sat up straight.
"Really?"
"Yes."
There was a pause.
Suddenly Lux scoffed and stuck her tongue out, "I don't believe you." The scout rolled her eyes and sighed beaten. She moved her hand through her hair. Quinn's eyes then lowered and she looked away, crossing her arms.
"Well, believe me or not, whatever it is, I'm not going to help you make a love potion." Lux was about to open her mouth in rebuttal when Quinn looked back with wide eyes. "What are you even going to do with a love potion anyway? What's the whole point of making someone love you when they don't even like you in the first place? It just defeats the purpose." Lux giggled and rolled her eyes again and then placed two hands on the scout's fragile shoulders and shook her.
"But that's the whole point Quinn!" Quinn frowned at her with furrowed eye brows and sighed (or groaned).
"No, it's not." She looked away. "You should get someone who likes you for being you."' Oh great, Quinn, you sounded so cheesy. Now she thinks you really are in love with someone.'
Lux grinned, Quinn froze. 'Now she thinks it. Oh... Poro snax's.' "Come on Quinn... You know you want to..." Quinn scooted away impishly with crossed arms. She stubbornly looked away.
"No."
"Oh please!"
"No."
"Come on... Please?!"
"No."
"I'm your friend..."
"Doesn't matter."
Lux whined and pulled on Quinn's sleeve, "For Demacia!"
Quinn craned her head back, "What? What does Demacia have to deal with Love potions?" Lux's lips trembled and she suddenly flung her body to the floor. She was nagging on Quinn with an almost similar manner to a spoiled child crying.
"Oh please, please, please Quinn, please!" The scout placed her hands on her own ears and looked away. After a few minutes the nagging and noise stopped. Quinn refused to look back. 'No, don't it's a trap. Don't...' But curiosity killed the cat as her golden eyes slowly inched towards the bubbly mage.
Lux was sitting there, holding the book in her hands looking at Quinn with large wide teary eyes.
Quinn sighed.
"Fine."
Lux giggled with glee and grabbed Quinn's hand and dragged her to the outside garden of the Demacian land. A small white gazebo was in the middle of the luscious flowers and deciduous trees. Quinn's feet trudged into the ground and she was dragged by the bubbly girl. Then sat themselves sitting across each other. Lux then placed the book on the white table between them with a loud 'thud' and began flipping through the pages. The scout looked around the gazebo and observed her surroundings. She closed her eyes and breathed in the air.
It was nice to be near nature.
Suddenly she felt tapping on rough paper. Quinn grudgingly turned her head to look at the finger tapping. Her keen golden eyes met with the finely written words on the top of the page: Love Potion Recipe
Quinn sighed, and looked at her friend, "Lux this stuff is so silly, only little kid's do this stuff and believe in it. It just some silly nasty tasting concoction that does nothing." Lux looked at her surprised.
"So you did try this! And not to mention, drank it yourself!" Quinn gave a frustrated huff.
"Argh, no I didn't!" Lux then scrunched her lips together and raised her eyebrows to look at her innocently.
"Then how do you know that it's was kids do and that only little kids believe in love potions and that it tastes nasty?" The scout sighed and her shoulders bent over. She looked glumly at the book her insides turning. 'I really don't want to do this' she thought.
"Ugh.. Never mind. Whatever, just read it."
Lux gave her a youthful smile and opened the book and read the contents while her fingers traced the words gently.
Love Potion Recipe
For a sweet lover that there is, a love potion there will be.
With a sparkle of love and if you know your true sparkling feelings...
This potion is sure to bring you, a sweet taste of lovely-feeling.
Quinn cut Lux off and swung her hand in the air. " You see! This is all baloney! What kind of cheesy rhyme is that?" Quinn then mimicked the wondrous narration Lux had made earlier, "with a sparkle of love, and if you know your true" she then raised both hands up, "sparkling feelings, this potion is sure to bring you a sweet taste of lovely feeling." Quinn shook her head viciously and glared at the brightly smiling Lux, who didn't seemed one bit swayed by Quinn's outburst. "The book technically said that it's just a drink that doesn't do anything. You see?" her fingers traced the phrase 'a sweet taste of lovely-feeling.' Lux then looked at her pointedly.
"Then what about the phrases before?" the mage questioned.
The scout scowled, "it's just fluff, really cheap fluff, I could do better- even a Noxian could write something sweeter and realistic than that." Lux pouted in her seat.
"Quinn! Your no fun! Come on, please! Just help me make this and you will be free to do whatever you want! I just want to play." Quinn stood up and began walking away. She paused and looked back the the prodigy by moving her head slightly.
"You can play with Garen."
"But he's a guy!"
"So? I'm sure he likes love potions too."
"But it's not the same! And he's my brother!" Quinn cringed inside, this was getting really tough and she was feeling guilty. And if she was honest with herself, she too wanted to make a love potion as well... Just only by a little bit. Quinn waved a hand at her.
"Go ask Fiora or Shyvanna, they seem like the kind of people who would like that stuff." Lux stood up and extended both arms in the air.
"But Quinn! They aren't the same age as me! They are so old, they'd go so weird! Your my age and you won't be weird around this stuff!" The scout turned around and smiled sarcastically.
"And how do you know that hmm? Why not ask Prince Jarvan or Xin Hao?"
"Well, I know you because you are my friend silly! Quinn! Come on, I want to play and have some fun..." she slumped back into her chair sadly, her eyes growing watery as she looked at the book. 'All I want is to play and have fun with a friend, just being a child... for once rather than with someone I don't really know or some older person who isn't connected to these childish things anymore...' The scout paused and turned back. Her guts were twisting in her stomach. 'She must be pretty lonely...' another thought rushed to her, ' and you are her only friend her age she can connect with. What meanie you can be Quinn, don't you miss acting like a girl too?' Quinn shook her head and stopped in her tracks. She hissed mentally to herself. 'Never! And I will do this because I will be nice person and friend... and not because I'm curious about the potion. In truth, she was genuine about both points, though she, like she was, stubborn and not wanting to recognize this.
The scout walked (or stalked) back to the gazebo "fine... Just this once... that's it." Lux lightened up. Quinn smirked with a small smile. "Don't blame on me if anything goes wrong with the other Champions like Ezreal or whoever is unlucky to drink this." Quinn then nodded for her to read. Her head rested on one arm as she listened to the blond childishly read the book.
" 1. A lovely, sweet potion needs a sweet pretty glass bottle. The bottle which you will contain the drink depends on your preference. It could be ice, wooden, plastic, or clay, hand crafted to any shape or size! Anything that you think is fitting may influence who shall drink the potion, or if you already someone you want to give it to... may influence their relationship towards you and the feelings that may reciprocate between you two. Feeling and putting thought into the potion is important for it creates it's lovely affect on the relationship that is to come. But be careful on overdoing this, excessive addition into your bottle can induce a love sickness. Nice at first, but not so nice in the long run." Quinn and Lux eyed each other at the last sentence. 'How to balance it out then? It's sounding a bit risky'. Both thought this mentally but shrugged it off. 'Just go with the feeling' they both thought. Quinn motioned Lux to continue. She was getting interested. 'Why didn't I do this or find this book earlier!' Thought she. The scout frowned quickly at the thought and dug it into the back of her head.
The voice of Lux continued, "Second of all, a potion isn't a potion without ingredients, no?
First you will need to choose from one of these base flowers that I have found, dear reader to be a motion to the "love" of this Love Potion.
A thorn-less red rose
Lavender
Arborvitae
Amaranth
Magnolia
Ivy
Acacia
Azter
Azalea
Baby's Breath
Clove
A tulip (and color that you wish)
A violet (any color of your choice dear one)
Honeysuckle
Witch-Hazel
Jonquil
Lotus
Nastrutium
Phlox
Protea
Eglantine Rose or any other colored rose... really.
The meaning will come later dear reader, or should I say 'Lover.' But to sometimes, some of these ingredients may change and reflect what you feel or want or- may represent the right match for you. You may make a potion to make your loved one braver or reach a state of clarity with his or her lifebut it may not make them love you, sometimes, you never know if you really love the person, you may just dearly care for them- you never know." Lux paused, and breathed, "that's a lot of flowers!" Quinn didn't remove her eyes from the book and nodded in agreement.
"Yeah... This author must have had a lot of time on his hands." She turned to Lux, "What's the whole point about calling it a 'Love potion' when it's not definitely going to make their 'special someone' like them back?" Lux rolled her eyes and laughed softly, she patted her friends arm.
"Ahh, Quinn! Didn't you say this wasn't going to work anyway" Lux cut Quinn off before she could continue her rebuttal, "but what the author means, is that you may think you 'love' the person, but you just really care for them." Lux scratched her head and Quinn looked at her, the mage's voice sounded like a child now. "Love can be like that too, but a different type. So this author know's what he or she is talking about." Quinn was silent and didn't say anything. 'How does she know about that 'love' stuff.' Quinn nodded for Lux to continue.
"However, dear 'Lover'-" Quinn rolled her eyes, 'wish the author would stop that...' "If you wish to follow your heart to it's core you can pick another flower out there... But beware, choosing plants like a Weeping Willow, Coriander or, poison Ivy or Wolfsbane and any poisonous flower may spell out trouble. Weeping Willow shall bring a sad unmeant love, tragic, or some sadness really, coriander lust... which the for the love sickness, (I warn you against it reader! Don't try it!), Poison Ivy- it's poison, silly. And Wolfsbane may turn the heart for anger or really just kill him or her. Next, you want to go to your local herbalist, chemist or alchemist, or potion brewer, tell them to cleanse the plant you have chosen so any stomach aches can be avoided. Crush and grind the plant petals. Now here's the fun part! The liquid you may need can be whatever you wish!
You just need:
Water (can be from a mountain spring, cooling ice, or dew from the plants (though this takes long, trust me)
Milk (whatever kind, if he or she is lactose intolerant, skip this) but milk for sweetness and longing and long lasting relationship or companionship to be!
Honey, for the loving heart you hold
A pinch of sugar! (Or... star dust? It's possible but hard to find... Fairy dust can do too) Why sugar? Oh, well to show innocence and purity of your feelings of course!
Mix or heat it up and add other flavoring, cinnamon, mint whatever, will affect your potion's outcome. Make sure you put this with the grind base flower's I listed from before (or if you really were brave and feeling it... your flower you 'found.' Pour it into the bottle you chose or made and make sure you get the blessing or purification of some kind of magical power person or deity or whatever, its optional. Blow into it softly till you hear the whisper in it, and kiss the top of the bottle with your feelings or if you are specific thoughts of this person and how you feel of them or whatever and there, you have a love potion. Let them drink it unknowingly and there shall be a new couple for all to see!"
Lux breathed in and looked at Quinn, she was bobbing up and down in her seat. "Well Quinn! Are you ready?!" Quinn rolled her eyes and looked nonchalantly away as if she didn't care.
"I just wished the author wasn't like that." Lux pushed her shoulder.
"Oh come on Quinn! He or she sounded really convincing! I think this author was a really bubbly happy person!" Quinn sarcastically turned her head towards her.
"Like you?" Lux frowned and sighed tired of her friend's antics.
"No, but just a really passionate person with how he writes!" Quinn nodded. 'That will have to do as an answer I guess...'
Quinn opened her mouth, "but I hope this doesn't poison anyone, sounds like a personal art fusion-potion-cooking to me." Lux laughed and picked up the book and walked with Quinn out of the gazebo.
"Well you agreed to help me... So you are going to make one too anyway." Quinn gave a small smile. She secretly was happy that she was going to make a love potion and do one girly thing she was wanting to do for a long time. But her voice of 'rationality' pounded her head with 'it's just for fun, it's not going to be turning out true anyway, so why not joke around for once. Val would like it too.' From the corner of her eyes, what Quinn did not see while she was reminiscing her thoughts was Lux holding a small smile while watching her friend. It was good to see Quinn enjoy herself, though Lux may seem like a bratty child with one view on everything, she was intuitive and knew that her friend wanted to also play and be a child too once in a while. Lux closed her eyes and breathed in a soft spring breeze, she thought to herself happily, 'I'm glad Quinn is my friend.'
This was purely therapeutic. I need to write one innocent childish story for once. Ahh the softness and relaxation of it. I like it so. But yes, working on my other two stories. And I'm almost getting through with my upcoming chapter for my TalonxQuinn story: Quinn and Valor's Beginning So ahahhaha!
But yes, this is another Choose your Ship! In this one chapter, YOU the reader will state which ship will be shipped with WHO. In this one chapter... Everything... and I mean everything in this story is decided... Well... okay, fine I will be honest. Not necessarily. Not really. Not likely. Okay, sorry, no... I'll listen to your comments to see which sways me. There is no voting system huehuehuehaha! Yes but really don't try the potion at home it's just some silly stuff I made up. But yes in this I see Quinn and Luxanna as childish friends like little school girls so I hope I depicted that well. But I've been sick for sometime q-q. So pray for me. But that's besides the point, I hope you enjoyed this, it was really fun, I actually got this from an old fic I read with Card Captor Sakura? Or was it an anime show or book I read, but it was really cute. Yeah... I feel very fuzzy thinking of it, but it was adorable!
Anywaysss, I hope you enjoyed this chapter, I really tried to make Quinn believable. She may be a tom boy but she is and kind of wants to be a girl too and to enjoy her childhood girlness she kind of didn't have or embrace when she was younger hahaha xD
But Lux, yes Lux, I don't really see her as a girl or weapon to Demacia... sorry, I think she is a happy child who cares for her friends and family deeply. But because of how Demacia is like, didn't have the time to make friends or enjoy her childhood, she loves her family but she is missing her childhood. So yeah, sorry, no bratty Lux xD.
BUT HMMMMM WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXXTTTTTT?
Will the other Champions find out and catch on? Also what do each base flower mean? (I just got these flower references from Wikipedia, just look it up: Flower symbolism. ahaha)
Also notes to my dear readers from my other fics:
