-Look at me.

Lily Evans sighs and looks at her best friend's face.

-I don't understand how. How two of you are always where you are not supposed to be. What got into you, so you went up to the roof?

Sirius just grins and then flinches, forgetting that grinning brings him pain.

-Lily, it's nothing special. We were just messing around, - says James trying to calm his girlfriend down. In Black's widening eyes James can see that he made a horrible mistake.

Lily turns around so suddenly and fiercely with her wild ginger hair flaming around her. Despite her small form her eyes are gleaming with a bad fire. Really really bad.

-What did you say? – she whispers. Marauders know that Lily Evans whispering is equal to mass destruction. Potter raised his palms in peaceful gesture.

-Nothing. We're sorry okay. We didn't want to get you worried.

Oops. One more wrong step. Evans closed her eyes and friends heard catlike hiss escape her.

The next thing he knew, James was flying from his chair as the Potions textbook hit him right in the forehead.

Lily turned back to Sirius, who was now covering his head with his hands.

-Look at me, I need to see your face and try to do something with it.

The result of James and Sirus' "messing around" on the roof was a bad-looking gash under Black's left eye.

Black looked at her from the space between her fingers and said with a careful smile:

-Come on stop being angry, Lil. You know that we never meant to make you worry.

Next moment Black repeated the fate of his best friend, and two of them were now sitting on the floor clutching their heads.

-Go to hell, boys, – said Lily as she started walking up the stairs to girls' room.

-Told you we should've taken her with us, - said James, grinning at his friend.

-Are you sure she wouldn't have pushed us from the roof?

-Well, with Evans you never know.

Lily sighed as she entered girls' bedroom. Alissa was still reading in her bed, so she looked up from her book as Lily sat on her friend's bed.

-What did these two idiots do now? – Alissa asked.

-They decided to go up to the roof. Then they decided that it would be fun to make a little competition and fight. Black hit his head on one of the spikes, thanks Merlin he just barely grazed it. – Lily sighed in frustration. Her boys were getting more and more impossible with every day, harder and harder to handle. Even Remus seemed more reckless than usual.

-Don't worry so much, Lil, this is our last year. I bet that's what makes them act even more stupid than previous six years, - Alissa smiled at her friend.

-I just feel like their mother all the time. Taking care of them, looking after them so they won't get hurt, - Lily tenderly smiled thinking about boys. Her boys.

The last thought Lily Evans had before falling into deep sleep was about how she is going to explain Marleen McKinnon her boyfriend's hurting head and bleeding gash in the morning.

Lily never noticed that Marleen slipped out of her bed the minute Lily closed the bathroom door behind her.

Lily woke up from the smell. It was as if she fell asleep in the flower field. She opened her eyes and saw the little bouquet of flowers on her bedside table with a note near it.

Thank you for taking care of us.

In a nice and neat handwriting of Marleen McKinnon. Lily smiled to herself and looked at her friend's bed, just to see her smiling back.

-They also asked you not to kill them for going out to get flowers at night, - blonde girl smiled and left Lily with a thought that if her fate is to babysit these stupid boys till the end of her days, it is totally worth it.
