Drabble
Kids squirmed in their seats, while half of the rest of the audience sniffed back tears of joy. There was that fresh smell of flowers in the air. The sweet aroma was so thick that Kira thought he might faint even if that was very unmanly. His eyes followed the procession with Lacus in all her wedding gown glory. He wasn't really feeling up to being happy for his friends at the moment. In fact, he was acting a bit out of character, but considering what was taking place and what had taken place, no one would or could blame him.
"Do you, Athrun Zala, take…" The reverend droned on and on about vows, while Kira zoned out. Here he was, best man, at his best friend's wedding, and he couldn't even pay attention. No, he was too busy thinking about how this could have happened. By 'this', he meant the wedding between his best friend and… his girlfriend, well, former girlfriend. He idly tapped his foot, waiting for the vows to be over, but he wasn't going to be granted that wish for another forty-five minutes. He wasn't mad though, he was just simply annoyed.
Glancing out towards the crowd, he could see many familiar faces. One he couldn't spot was his sister's. Cagalli was at home probably bawling her eyes out or smashing things in her own unique reaction to losing the one she loved, not that she had Athrun in the first place. She was definitely not happy with the arrangement between Athrun and Lacus. Arranged marriages were just so overrated. So why did Lacus have to feel the urge to comply with her father's wishes? And why did he feel such murderous feelings for those hopping, chirping Haros in the front row?

"Kira, I'm sorry, but you understand, right?" Lacus Clyne gave such innocent eyes to Kira who could only nod, "It was my father's last wish to merge the Clyne Industries with the Zala's." Again, Kira could only nod, "I love you, but I have to do this."

Kira watched the caretakers and janitors clean up the large hall after the wedding. He lay his head on top of his arms. His eyes were blank and unfocused, "Kira!" Someone called his name. Kira looked up to see Athrun walking towards him with a worried expression, "Look, Kira, I know I messed up a lot of things for you, but please don't hate me…"
Kira raised a brow feeling just a tad sadistic at the moment, "You married my girlfriend and forced me to deal with my sister who has been reduced to a crying mess for the last month. You still think you can ask me not to hate you?" Athrun was silent at this but at least had a guilty expression, "Why do you think I shouldn't hate you?" Kira challenged.
Athrun looked stricken for a moment and then whispered, "Because I love you."
"I know." Kira answered, all the while with a knowing smile. He loved Athrun too.
