A rather pointless drabble... I don't think it even makes sense. I don't know where this stuff comes from...
It was, Valentine decided, a very bad idea to fall in love with one's creator.
It was bad enough to find out you were nothing more than a doodle and a dream, but to meet her in a dark alley wearing bunny slippers and being all funny and smart and charming and, more importantly, devistatingly naive, now that just wasn't fair. Not to mention her habit of trusting a most untrustworthy charactor (namely, Valentine himself) on little more than a handshake and a hello, and awaking enough guilt in said untrustworthy charactor to take the "un" away for a bit... That was just intolerable.
It was all very unfair to meet one's maker. So many questions... Mostly "why"s. Why this, why that, why can't I ever find a matching pair of socks? And if she were anything to judge by, most creators were too... well, creative, not to be utter scatterbrains and quite unaware of logical details. It was always "because it looked pretty" or "I was bored" or "I dunno, just because." Very frustrating.
Were all gods this empty-headed?
The thing was, words like "goddess" and "creator" didn't seem to sit very well on Helena's slim shoulder. She was just Helena, hair falling into her eyes and wandering about in pajamas, dreamed up by some higher god who hadn't seen fit to drop haphazardly into her life.
And the idea kept popping into his head that maybe it wasn't so awful to fall in love with that Helena.
I suppose if you dug around in this you could dredge up some of my opinions on the concept of gods, but I don't really feel like explaining. After all, it's in rather bad taste to have the author's notes be longer than the story itself. But I will confess some outward influence... I finally found some Discworld novels and the bits about the gods who created an utterly illogical world may have had some impact on me here.
I don't know what I'd do if I was suddenly confronted by my drawings and asked to explain their existance to them. It's kind of a horrifying thought, isn't it?
Anyway... Ciao, my friends!
