it's been a long day
when starfire cannot sleep, she dances
She and her team haven't rested for over forty-eight hours and neither have the villains. They don't often get days like this—somehow, always—there comes a break between attacks, where the Titans get a chance to catch their breath, nurse their wounds, and close their eyes for a while.
Starfire wishes she could sleep, but she is so wound up on adrenaline and Raven's tea that rest is merely a dream.
And when Starfire cannot sleep, she dances.
Quietly, she escapes to her room and closes her door. She never puts music on—doesn't want to draw attention to herself, doesn't want to let her secret go—but she has memorized hundreds of songs—both Earth and Tamaranian. She has learned many dances since joining her Titans, and finally, when she's ready, holds up her arms and pretends Robin is guiding her steps.
(Someday, she hopes prays dreams, someday, I will not have to pretend.)
