Simon's heart was pounding. He felt a burning passion inside of him, one that he never had felt with any other woman. Even Gemma, whom he had thought to be the best thing that ever happened to him, did not bring about this feeling. He had found the one for him, finally. He knew what he had to do. And no matter what, he would steal his true love away from the foul hands that grasped it. His true love, Kartik.

He had met him by chance. When he was on his way to call on Gemma, he spotted him, crawling into a window. Upon further investigation, he realized that it was Gemma's window. Furious that Gemma had a secret lover, he decided to lie in wait to murder this impudent scoundrel.

But when the man came out, it was not as he expected. The man was, dare he say it, handsome. Simon shook his head to clear himself of such thoughts, but they would not leave. He decided that instead of killing the man, he would kidnap him. As he jumped out, the man pulled a knife on him. So the man had known. But as the man stared down into Simon's eyes, the man's eyes softened. The man put his knife away and glared at Simon. Simon felt the urge to kiss the man; he looked so hot in his glowering.

"Who are you?" The words tumbled out of the man's mouth.

Simon smiled. "My name is Simon. What is yours?"

"You don't need to know that," the man said, his lips twitching.

Simon's smile widened. The man was obviously having the same urge he was having.

"Kartik!" a voice cried out.

"Gemma," the two men said, not sounding too gleeful for some reason. Gemma stopped mid- step.

"Oh I should introduce you two," Gemma stammered. "I didn't realize that you were there, Simon."

"Don't worry. We already know each other," Simon answered, enjoying the other man's discomfort. "Kartik."

Over the next few weeks, Simon found out everything about Kartik. After all, Simon is a Viscount's son, he could do this. Little did he know that Kartik was stalking him, and finding out about him as well. The days seemed so long without each of them seeing or hearing about the other.

Gemma soon realized that something was amiss. With both men asking her about the other, she suspected that they were jealous of the other. But she also noticed that their attention toward her had diminished. So she decided to set them up to understand their true intentions.

Simon looked down at the note in his hands. It said that Gemma wanted him today. He felt guilty deceiving her like this, but he felt that it was necessary. He sighed and thought of Kartik. Maybe Kartik would be around again.

Kartik glanced at his note once again. It said that Gemma had urgent news about the realms. He sighed. Can't she realize that I don't love her? At least, not like I thought I did.

Too bad Simon won't be there.

Gemma was running late. One of her teachers had needed her and she wouldn't be able to get to the place where Simon and Kartik were supposed to meet her.

Simon reached the designated spot. No one was here. Where was Gemma? He saw someone watching from the shadows. It was Kartik. Kartik blushed and walked out of the bushes. Simon gazed at his true love. Kartik began to walk closer, his eyes never leaving Simon's. Finally, they were only inches apart. And then their lips met.

It was a tentative kiss at first, but it built up to a passionate kiss, one that they had never shared with Gemma. They split apart after some time. And smiled.

When Gemma finally appeared, the two men were standing a few feet apart shuffling their feet, blushing. But for some reason, Gemma could never figure out why.
