"Don't I matter to you?!" she cried, tears pouring down her sweet pale cheeks. He turned his face to keep his own threatening tears at bay. He could never stand to see her cry.
"Of course you matter to me." More than you will ever know he thought. He looked at her, trying to tell her with his eyes that he was sorry.
"What is it then? Why can't we be together?" she screamed throwing her hands in the air as another wave of tears streamed down her face.
"I don't love you anymore. I'm sorry I have to go" he whispered, sniffing slightly. He turned and walked away as she fell to the ground behind him. She did not try to contain her anguish. Sobs racked her body as he walked away. Each moan sent a stabbing pain through his heart.

She wanted to hurt him. She wanted love to him. She wanted to see him suffer. She wanted to steal away his pain. She wanted to watch him crumble. She wanted to rebuild him.

He wanted her love. He wanted her comfort. He wanted her help. He wanted to feel the heat of her body against him.

She watched from a distance as he paraded himself around on the arms of women who were anyone but her.
He watched from a distance as she laughed and joked with the men she brought to the house.

She would watch him when he came through the door with a smile on his face. It would always fade the moment their eyes met. That was her favorite moment of the day and she never missed it. Like clockwork, she would be coming down the stairs, a smile on her face at the thought of seeing him.

He knew it was his fault. He knew that every falter in her face was his fault. He knew that every tear that fell forth from her angel blue eyes was his fault. He couldn't bear to see her suffer any longer.
She knew it was his fault. She knew that every time his smile faded it was because he felt guilty. She knew that every tear that slid down from his deep brown eyes was derived from his guilt. She couldn't bear to see him suffer any longer.

She was waiting for him when he came to the house that day. He looked up into her eyes, with a look that begged her to forgive him. She smiled. It lit up her face for the first time in what seemed like months. He smiled back. She descended the remaining stairs and jumped into his arms, moments before he teleported them to the clearing where they had first exclaimed their love for one another.

"I don't know how to not love you" he whispered into her hair as he held her tightly. She cried openly out of happiness to once again be in his arms.
"I forgive you my love" she replied. He leaned down and kissed the top of her head. She turned her head to find the tree that held their love. Carved into the trunk:
I can't unlove you
