Prologue

Elysian Lillian Potter Slytherin smirked as she walked the halls of Hogwarts castle. Her head was held high as she traced the familiar twists and turns she had learned as a child. Her black heels clicked against the cold stone ground as her dark green dress flowed behind her. The portraits that had once lined each corridor had long since abandoned their frames, over joyed that they no longer served the Headmaster who had doomed them, leaving Elysian alone to feel the nostalgia that came along with the beautiful castle.

Coming across the charms classroom, Elysian slipped inside and carefully sat down in the seat that she had once claimed, all those years ago, a fond smile playing on her lips as she remembered the good times she and all of her friends had once had in this very classroom. She could practically see young Draco gloating as he cast the cleaning charm first before Pansy pointed out that only Pureblood girls should even know how to do it. Elysian chuckled realising that not much had changed from her Hogwarts days, their band were still as thick as thief's, even if they were one less, and Pansy and Draco still drove each other up the wall, despite living far away from each other in different countries. The old gang always met once every two weeks at Elysian's castle in order to catch up on each other's lives and to show off the newest child – in Daphne and Pansy's case – or the newest books – in Hermione's case.

"It's like we never left," said a voice, startling Elysian out of her memories.

"Have you been following me?" asked Elysian, eying up the boy in front of her with a small smirk.

"Yep," said Blaise with a smirk of his own, "you and I both know that the others would kill me if I didn't."

"I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself Blaise," said Elysian rolling her eyes.

"Yeah, you proved that in the final battle, I must admit," he nodded along. He slipped into his old seat, which happened to be in front of hers, and turned to face her. "What are you doing here Ely?"

She remained silent.

"Come on, you can tell me anything, you know that," prodded Blaise.

"…I still see them… every night…. When I go to bed," said Elysian softly, her eyes downcast as she began scratching something into the desk. "I see their startled faces… the disappointment on them… the pain as I cast the killing curse… I hear the screaming," she sobbed. "…I hear my brother crying out for help before he dies… I see the look of betrayal on his face when I don't… oh Merlin Blaise… I see it all."

Sighing, Blaise wrapped his arms around her and pulled her to his chest, letting her sob on his silk shirt without so much as a care. He should have guessed it was something like this… he should have seen it coming: he, too, experienced the very nightmares she spoke about, all of them did, it was the only remnant of the war they had all fought so hard to win. He knew what it felt like to wake up every morning in a fit of screaming, praying that all of what they had gone through had been a terrible nightmare that would never again return, but despite knowing what it was like, he couldn't imagine what it was like for Elysian. The woman who had killed more than any of them combined, the woman who had cut down her own parents and Headmaster, the woman who had protected all of them by diving into the darkest magic possible. The woman who had watched Lord Voldemort – the man she had gone to see as a father – die in front of her after watching her twin die. How could anyone know what she was truly going through.

"It hurts Blaise… more than anything I've ever felt before… more than the cruciatus curse… more than seeing Sirius in Azkaban… I don't know what to do, I don't know how to be brave," she gasped, looking him directly in the eye.

"Oh Elysian," he sighed softly, "You do what you've always done: you wake up every morning to fight the demons that left you so tired the night before, and that my love, is bravery."

"Thank you, Blaise," said Elysian with a small smile, her tears drying up.

"Anytime."

"I should go," said Elysian, standing suddenly, "There's so much to do before Hogwarts can open again… I should start right away."

"Alright, just don't over work yourself," said Blaise sternly, "and please send an owl every once in a while, just to let us know you haven't died from stress."

"I promise Blaise. Now leave before I make you."

Elysian watched from the window as Blaise reached the end of the wards and apparated away. She felt a sigh of relief flood through and slowly began making her way towards the headmaster's office – or rather her office now. She smiled lightly as she came upon the newly installed dragon guardian – her first act as Headmistress had been to remove the griffin, she didn't want any reminders of the world she had destroyed – and placed her hand on its snout causing it to let out a puff of green smoke and slowly fly up, taking the stairs along with it. Elysian quickly ascended the staircase and gently patted the dragon's head, causing it to return to its original position, before she entered her office.

The office looked nothing like it had when Dumbledore had once owned it. Gone were the random trinkets and baubles, the bowl of sweets and wardrobe full of outlandish clothing, gone were the sparkling curtains and broken toys from muggle London. Everything had changed. The office looked more professional than before but it was also very welcoming with a separate area for students who came to her with problems and for students who came to her for punishments. All of the houses had at least one item within the office which seemed to illuminate the natural bias many would have had before. The previous headmasters were hung just above her chair with curtains over them enchanted with silencing charms in order to stop arguments.

Slowly, Elysian stepped towards the closest portrait and gently pulled on the red tassel – each portrait had a different colour depending on what house they had been in when they were a student, it meant that should Elysian be unable to assist then the students could pick a headmaster from their house to ask – revealing the enchanted portrait of Albus Dumbledore who seemed to have been waiting for her for a while.

"Good evening Elysian," said Dumbledore, his famous twinkle reawakening in his eyes.

"Hello Headmaster," said Elysian, her chair turning so that she could sit in it whilst speaking to the man she had watched die. "You're looking rather well, for a dead man."

"Indeed, my dear, indeed," he chuckled, "and you are looking just as well for a murderess."

"How many times must Draco and I apologise for that?" asked Elysian, with no regret at all.

"It does not matter now, you achieved your desire," said Dumbledore, "now why have you raised the curtain?"

"Can I not just speak to my former Headmaster without an ulterior motive?" asked Elysian with a raised eyebrow.

"Anyone else could have, my dear, but you could not. We share too much of a horrid history for that to ever happen."

"True," she sighed. "Very well, I wish to speak with you about my nightmares. How do I stop them?"

Dumbledore was quiet for a moment before shaking his head with a sigh. Elysian felt her knuckles turn white as she gripped the green silk of her tailored dress, silently praying that the older man would have pity on her despite their past together.

"There is a way…" said Dumbledore, a strange glint in his eye, "but it would require a lot of power and sacrifice."

"Please Dumbledore, I'll do anything! Just make it stop," Elysian begged, the first time seeming truly vulnerable to the older man.

"Alright, in the top draw of the desk is a secret compartment which contains the directions of the spell you seek."

Entering the room of requirement after all this time was a shock to Elysian's system – like hitting a brick wall full force only the wall was made of memories – which caused her to stumble for a moment before regaining her composure and setting down the ingredients she had gathered. The room seemed to understand her needs and she watched, fascinated, as the runic circle from the drawing appeared on the floor for her to trace. Elysian knew this could possibly be the stupidest idea she had ever had in her entire life but she couldn't bring herself to stop: the nightmares had destroyed her mentally and she couldn't stand the idea of suffering any longer. Perhaps, if this worked, she could make her friends do the same, end their suffering as well as her own and then they could finally all move on with their lives… perhaps.

After spreading the red powder in the formation, Elysian placed the tip of the elder wand at the base of it and watched as it began to glow. She took one more glance down at the instructions before stepping into the centre of the circle and beginning the chant: "Et incarnatus est de Merlino, et coram illis, qui venerunt, ut de te oro, ut det mihi revertere in potentia ad errata corrigere et praedecessor meus. Per potestatem ab illo Sanctorum me iubes!"

Suddenly she was engulfed in a bright light as the sound of a clock reached her ears. Betrayal and fear coursed through Elysian as she realised that she'd been tricked! Closing her eyes, Elysian wrapped her arms around herself and clutched the elder wand tightly in her hand. "I'm sorry Blaise."

Newt Scamander was walking through the forest following the trail of his missing Niffler, who had once again escaped after Newt had forgotten to close the case, when he came across a stream. Deciding to take a break, if only for a moment, he sat down and pulled out his wand, casting a quick warming charm over himself before pulling out a small sandwich from his pocket. The view, he had to admit, was beautiful but he couldn't see the niffler anywhere and it was beginning to worry him.

Suddenly, his eyes were filled with a blinding light causing Newt to cover his eyes.

The sound of something large falling into the leaves nearby reached his ears and he slowly removed his hand, seeing the light had faded. Quickly, Newt stood and looked around, spotting a sliver of beautiful green silk – which also seemed to grab the nifflers attention – he ran towards it and was shocked to find a beautiful witch unconscious in the leaves. Grabbing the niffler before it could take anything from the young woman, Newt threw it back in the suit case before bending down to examine her, shocked to find that she was relatively unharmed.

Gently, Newt placed a warm hand on her cheek causing her to flinch and her eyes to open slightly. Quickly he cast a warming charm over her and forced her eyes open more – entranced by their Avada Kedavra colouring – allowing her to see him fully for the first time.

"Who are you?" Newt asked in pure shock and awe.

"Elysian," she mumbled, "Slytherin."

And with those parting words she feel completely unconscious allowing Newt the chance to fully accept what she had just said.

"But that's not possible!"

End Prologue

Note: What did you all think? Surprised to see this? I figured I might as well add more depth to Elysian's story while also creating another one. I hope you all enjoyed the first chapter because there will be many more with every new movie.

Just so you know there will be hints to what happens in the future of Elysian Potter: The Forgotten Queen scattered throughout this story so for those whom enjoy building theories based on my writing – which I would love to read to please put them in the comments – here is a little more fuel to the fire. Don't worry though, the major plot twists will not be mentioned because I'm not going to spoil my own story.

Hope you enjoyed, can't wait to read your reviews!
