Prologue

A foggy image appears.

An odd creature with one large, crimson eye and a simplistic white and purple body (made out of the very same materials human skulls are made out of) appears along with the shrouded image. It is surrounded by a somewhat hellish environment, standing in front of a colossal, red, and mysterious door. It is alone.

The creature taps lightly on the door. It steps back as the door slowly opens. Once the creature has entered, the door sluggishly closes.

The creature is standing in a room not much different from the outside, besides the fact that there are skulls and assorted bones on the wall, serving as decorations. In the very front of the creature is a black throne emitting evil. Atop the throne is a beast quite beyond human reality.

Dressed in a black robe (lined with gold) is the (partially) Greek villain Medusa. Her bodily features resemble that of a young, fit woman. Her skin is paper white. Her head is topped of with a nest of snakes, all slithering and hissing on top of her skull. Her pitch-black, golden-rimmed staff is topped off with a horde of snakes as well. Beneath her sultry appearance is an aura of pure evil. She and her throne stand at an intimidating twenty feet high.

The lesser creature speaks up. "Um…my queen…Medusa?"

Medusa notices the smaller creature, now obviously annoyed. "For what reasons have you disturbed me, foolish Skuttler? You know I need my rest."

The Skuttler trembles in anxiety. "I do apologize, o great Medusa. I come bearing important news."

Medusa raises an eyebrow in curiosity. "What news?"

The Skuttler trembles slightly more. "Well, my lady, two things: first, Palutena has returned, somehow."

Medusa leans forward as her eyes widen in rage. "Palutena has RETURNED?! How dare that meddlesome, pathetic excuse for a goddess show her disgusting face again?"

The Skuttler is shaking uncontrollably now. "Y-Yes, I am a-angry about it t-too, but…there is m-more."

"MORE?! How could anything possibly top HER return? Oh, the horrible things I'm going to do to that pest…" Medusa rants.

All is silent.

Medusa breaks the sudden silence by angrily saying, "Well? Get on with it!"

The Skuttler regains its senses and continues. "Uh…it would also seem that she has found the Zodiacs."

Medusa looks like she's about to explode (which would be quite messy, with the snakes and all), but then has a quick thought. This makes her calm down, and her expression turns back to solemn. She asks, "Has she grouped and or trained them yet?"

The Skuttler hastily replies, "Um…no, my queen."

Medusa's somber expression suddenly bursts with cruel joy. She booms, "Excellent! With them scattered, I can destroy them one by one and stop another uprising before it even happens!"

The Skuttler, upon seeing Medusa in a relatively good mood, forges on with more confidence. "Oh and…my queen? I'm happy to let you know that Palutena's senior angel, Pit, has…disappeared." The Skuttler put extra emphasis on the last word.

The grin on Medusa's face grows ever wider.

"How convenient. That must mean Hades's plan worked…" Medusa muses.

Medusa ponders on something for a moment, and then orders the Skuttler, "Prepare the army. Order the mobile units to ready themselves for combat. Command the immobile units to guard the Underworld."

"Yes, my queen!" the Skuttler says swiftly before rushing out of the room.

Medusa laughs maniacally before purring, "Prepare yourself, Palutena. You don't have little Pit to do your bidding this time, nor do you have the Zodiacs!"

Medusa suddenly has another thought, and her joyous expression darkens. "I'll have to dispatch HIM before he realizes who he is…" Medusa trails off.

The image grows dimmer and dimmer until all is black.
